Will also give it a listen, avoided it so far as I am not so much into bandeon....

It's a great album, and I've grown to really like the bandoneon. Try Dino Saluzzi.

My favourite Pink Floyd album after the Wall - the first track "Atom Heart Mother: Father’s Shout - Breast Milky - Mother Fore - Funky" is a wonderful piece of music that works on several levels and is so un Pink Floyd - and i love the brass that reminds me of a Spaghetti Western soundtrack - every track is a treat - ending with the superb "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast"

A super album from Charles Lloyd, re-released as part of the Quartets box set.

H. I already have "Canto" from this set , have you had a chance to listen to all / some of the the earlier albums and if so how would you say they compare to Canto ? it's quite a tempting bargain on Qobuz ....

Posted on: 05 December 2016 by hungryhalibut

I've not got to Canto yet, but at £3 each you can't go wrong.

The Cranberries, No Need To Argue, one of those bands and singers who seem to be able to inject emotion and atmosphere into their music.  Takes me back in time every time I hear it.

Bach cello suites, Harnoncourt, suite 3, Harmonia Mundi, vinyl. Soothing end of day I front of fire on a frosty night.

Paul McCartney. Chaos And Creation In The Backyard. On CD from 2005. Besides being among my favorite Macca solo albums, I also love the cover photo taken by his brother Mike in their Liverpool backyard. Hoping we get a vinyl re-release of this gem soon as the CD is heavily loudness compromised.

Neil Young. Harvest (1972). On HDCD remaster from 2009. There are so many great albums from Good Ol' Neil and this is one I'd rank among his quintessentials.

(2015)

An EP length album of four tracks based on concert and rehearsal recordings from 2014, focussing on the duet of guitar and bass clarinet, with varying degrees of processing.

Dipping in to this (free download, if you chose not to pay) again which has a very pleasant mix of interesting and enjoyable guitar tracks from a variety of artists.

Red Hot Chili Peppers. Stadium Arcadium. On 2CD from 2006. Fantastic and complete from start to end. Funkily warm and engaging. Best work from the Peppers AFAIC.

I had again a listen to this this morning. Impressive. And I am also now listening to their album Maps of non existent places, also an interesting album. How to describe this. It seems to be a mix of progressive rock, jazz, Frank Zappa sometimes....good vocals also.....

Kermode & Mayo Film Review on iPhone & Apple Podcast App, connected via Bluetooth to a UnitiQute2 - works seamlessly.

Not music I know, but I really like Naim’s streamers ability to connect to a device via bluetooth and so enable the user to enjoy the vast range of podcasts out there. I listen to podcasts frequently during the working day and now value this facility very highly - and so much nicer not having to faff about with iTunes for podcasts!
