What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Nirvana. Nirvana. On CD from 2002. Because late on a Friday night I was seeking some balls-to-the-wall music. Girding my loins.

Ok, it's fashionable to pour scorn on this album ..................... but, who among us didn't love it, back in the day ............. c'mon, own up!
I Still love it, I don't mind the SQ on my 1984 CD either.
I've got the original vinyl. original CD, and remastered HDCD. They all suck for straightforward SQ, but as far as impassioned vocals it's difficult to name a better rock album from the era. Get over the wall of sound sonic and Meatloaf + Ellen Foley = one of rock's greatest duets on "Paradise By The Dashboard Light". Despite the SQ, the album has sold over 40 million copies so there must be something to it .
Adele - 25
Was mentioned in the jazzwise magazine as one of the essentials, sounds good...

Why? Is it necessary to ask?

Yes, why? ELP were dreadful, overindulgent rubbish.
This comment coming from someone who actually admits to liking the Smiths. Enough said!

It's a great pressing! My original copy did walkies many years ago so It's nice to rediscover its joys. Incidentally, the digital download doesn't seem to be available at the moment.
Indeed it is, Tony. And very heavy too (seems heavier than most 180g discs). I still have the original single album together with all the documents and posters, plus two copies on CD!

I apologise to Paper Plane for my comment, which was insensitive given the very sad passing of Greg Lake.

Theatrically overblown, completely bonkers, over the top crazy vaudeville rock - brilliant ! But isn’t that the point?
I have a huge amount of affection for this album and will always have a copy, as it reminds me of one of my closest school friends who seemed to play this endlessly. Sadly he passed away far too young when in his prime and I still miss him greatly.
But even at that young age he helped me to realise that sometimes its good to have a sense of humour when listening to music.
I’ll give this a bast today!
Another weekend work day at Yeti Towers, so lets start with this…
You cannot have too much Dexter!
A new purchase. Good listening when you haven't got time for the big box.

A really, really good album, Bert. I first discovered this in the bundle of test pressings I received from Naim label a few years ago. It took quite some time to work out which album it was as the were all white labels.
Among the very many cultural figures who sadly passed away this year was the great Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara. I bought this CD last week, which contains a trio of his best-known works:
Avishni Cohen - Into the Silence. CD rip. Probably should have been one of my top 5 albums (too many to choose from)
Followed by this - still discovering delights in this bargain 4 album boxed set from Qobuz. John Taylor / Peter Erskine/ Palle Danielsson - Time Being.
And earlier. Mary Chapin Carpenter - The Things that We Are Made Of. A delightful album. Tidal.
Like Nick and his Peter Erskine box, this excellent album by Charles Lloyd comes from a five album bargain. Very mellow and just right for after lunch.
One of the very few piano arrangements to Rameau's keyboard music.
