2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Swee Crisis: rising heavy rock group from Cambridge UK, toured with Gun this Autumn. Only available on MP3 but sounds great from the iPad directly linked through the 32.5. Gritty
, memorable and tightly played? Watch them go!
Clive B posted:Genesis - Wind & Wuthering. The last Genesis album on which Phil Hackett played.
I believe it was Steve Hackett's last studio album with Genesis too.
Very mellow, and rather lovely.

Yes, of course. I must be tired. What a plonker!
Seeing Clive's posts made me dig this one out which I think is SH's last recording with Genesis and rather good it is too.

(1973/1986)
This is ripped from the original release on the Jive Electro label in '86. It is believed to have been recorded in August 1973 prior to Phaedra at the Skyline Studio, Berlin. It then lay dormant and unpublished until it was remixed and mastered 1984 and finally released in 1986. It was remastered again in 1996 and given new album art.
The Best Of Steppenwolf. 20th Century Masters CD from 1999. I appreciate compilations that hit the core of a band's output. I don't really need bonus tracks, outtakes, etc. These ten tracks hit the essence of Steppenwolf for me. Excellent.
On vinyl...
Van Halen, 1984, if ever an album summed up its time its this one and none the worse for it. Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

The afternoon play on R4, or "drama" as they insist on calling it. The story of a family dealing with dementia. Far, far better than it sounds.
