What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Gary Shaw posted:It's funny that there's a few Bowie posts tonight, as earlier the Missus and I were playing a few odd tracks in remembrance (with Bing, the Steven Wilson Space Oddity) with this as our favourite version of Under Pressure with the wonderful Gail Ann Dorsey.
Sniffle...
Just about to commend your post about Rosie Vela's 1st album and then you just about top if with your reference to the outstanding Gail Ann Dorsey. You'll know her terrific solo album, The Corporate World. Great stuff.
Van Morrison - The Philosopher's Stone.
My, what a stunning piece of creative musical artistry. Thirty tracks, yes thirty, and every one is a belter. You got to have some serious talent (and material) to pull that off.
Tord Gustavsen Trio - Being There. CD rip. Much played.

(2000)
Because I fancied quick trip down memory lane with The Move and some of the best.
A Tribe Called Quest-We Got It From Hete...Thank You 4 Your Service
Alanis Morissette. Jagged Little Pill. On original CD from 1995. This album had huge mainstream appeal 20+ years ago. Listening today it retains a refreshing, original edginess due in large part to Alanis' impassioned vocal delivery and forward lyrics. No holds barred and loaded with energy.

This one a 2009 Stereo Remaster CD rip. Playing CD1 of 2.

Another of those 2009 remasters.
Edna Stern - "Mozart: Piano Concertos: 9, 12, and 14" (2010)
2016 - Vinyl - US pressing...
Great voice and really enjoying this....
Yes I committed a crime, my girlfriend asked for it...

This RIP is from an original release CD and my oh my it sounds GOOD.
His first and in my view still his best.
I agree MDS, this is his best album for me. I also really like 1994. and 7 is a bit of a return to form.
Edna Stern - "Schumann: Fantaisie" (2007) I don't listen to a lot of classical music, but I have always enjoyed Schumann. This disc is a personal favorite.
Helene Grimaud - "Resonances: Mozart, Liszt" (2011)
Double vinyl. This doesn't get a lot of love (it certainly didn't when it came out in October '74), but this is by some distance Bowie's best live album, documenting a fascinating phase in his career with a stellar cast of musicians playing intriguing rearrangements of old favourites, hits and deep cuts. This is the original mix, from the Who Can I Be Now? box.

With all the talk of U2 being in the trade for 40 odd years, I thought I'd give this spin!?! I have always liked this album, Love Bullet in a Blue Sky.
It's easy to forget what great band they were (and sometimes still are). This is a great record.
