2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Kind of strange album, but pleasant to listen to..
Pentatonix, That's Christmas To Me. Saw these on Sunday Brunch and thought that they were brilliant. Really great harmonies and timing. Flac via Audirvana/hugo
Just listening to my latest purchase via Amazon whilst the physical media is in a white van somewhere on route to my house.
This popped up as an advert whilst i was listening to Kandace Springs and i rather liked the title song (and his previous album) so i ordered it. Seemed daft not to get free postage so Gregory Porters latest went in the basket too (along with Kandace).
Here ends (!) my purchasing for this year with some great new finds thanks to this part of the forum
Compilation album of sound of the seventies blaring away while cleaning the house

Originally downloaded as a 24/44.1, Mark Shrives who is Redshift releasing his first solo album since 2008. "The whole album is heavy with layered sequencing and (very) subsonic bass parts and while there are sometimes familiar sounds present there are also many less obvious choices in instrumentation." Instrumental, electronic, dark and spacey.
*Edit. Predictive text seems to have got in the way, his name is Mark Shreeve not Shrives!

On vinyl...
Reissued vinyl...
For me, this album is heading into the less accessible territory of his later material, but he's still on good form with some really beautiful tracks.
At times it's a very 'dense' sounding recording but that doesn't spoil the album and really works well on tracks like 'Digging in the dirt'. IIRC he used the Linn Numerik pro system in production.
Peter Gabriel - Us
Still brilliant...
Starting the seasonal holiday with something mellow & a nice dry Fino.
G
Chris Jones - Roadhouses and Automobiles.
CJ was a great guitarist and had a great voice. Very sadly missed by me.
His music thankfully is very much alive.
Ronnie Lane's Slim Chance - Ooh La La.
Mellowing out with a bit of whimsy ............. nothing too serious.
Needed something peaceful to listen to, and being a big fan of Chet Baker :-
Thought I'd dig a few LPs out, give them a clean and a good listen this afternoon.
Roxy Music - Roxy Music
Fantastic
CD Rip
J J Cale - Anyway the Wind Blows - The Anthology.
Continuing the mellowness with one of the masters of laid back.
1996 - CD (WAV)...
Great early Queen
CD Rip
Megan Henwood - Making Waves
Status Quo - Aquostic.
Final bit of mellowness from me for this evening ............... strangely compelling, this one.
