2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
James Blunt, All The Lost Souls. WAV CD Rip.
I know it is totally Uncool to listen to Mr Blunt, But I thoroughly enjoyed this tonight.
Eric Clapton, MTV Unplugged, WAV CD Rip.
Eric and a nice 2012 Rioja are making for great company.

2016 - Tidal...
Might as well...
Ray Lamontagne, Till The Sun Turns Black, WAV Cd Rip.
I could play this until the Sun comes up.
New vinyl...
Recorded with Glenn Gould's piano, CD 318, at studio sessions on February 6 and 9, and May 20, 1963, Evans used the then controversial method of overdubbing three different yet corresponding piano tracks for each song.
The album earned Evans his first Grammy Award in 1964 for Best Jazz Instrumental Album, Individual or Group. It received a 5-star review in Down Beat in 1963.
Riverside, Eye Of The Soundscape. WAV CD Rip.
And now for something completely different!
Indeed cool...
Ed Sheeran, X, because I've just watched the second Hobbit film and there is an excellent theme song on this album. Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

I could have sworn you were going to say it was because there was a ginger hobbit in it. I do apologise unreservedly in advance...
1967 - Tidal...
A+ | Transcoded DSD
Playing the rip from CD 2 of 2:
Disc: 2
1. On The Highway (Zabriskie Point Remix)
2. Auto Scene Version 2 (Zabriskie Point Remix)
3. The Riot Scene (Zabriskie Point Remix)
4. Looking At Map (Zabriskie Point Remix)
5. Take Off (Zabriskie Point Remix)
6. Embryo (BBC Radio Session, 16 July 1970)
7. Atom Heart Mother (Live In Montreux, 21 November 1970)
8. Nothing Part 14
9. Childhood's End (2016 Remix)
10. Free Four (2016 Remix)
11. Stay (2016 Remix)
I like the sound quality across both these issues.
Just purchased my 4th copy if this recording. This the new James Guthrie, Joel Plante and Bernie Grundman remaster. Sounding a bit different!
It might take a while to get used to this different mix.
Halfway through this now, and I think my 1977 Japanese pressing (or even my very battered UK first press) will be the go-to-ones for the best album from the Floyd's imperial phase.

(1971)
On with some more 'Floyd and this one is the Guthrie 2011 remaster.
Testing some discounted albums at Qobuz, this one seems to be good...
From 1979, the annus mirabilis of popular music, this masterpiece. Krautrock, deep dub, post-punk, space rock, subsonic bass and electronica all combine to create one of the most remarkable albums ever to have come out of these islands. The playing of Wobble and (especially) Keith Levene is extraordinary. UK first press from November '79. Sadly my tin isn't shiny like this one!
