2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

lucinda Williams - Car Wheels On. A Gravel Road, single disc version.
Sloop John B posted:Sometimes I find I don't give box sets enough listens, they can be a bit overwhelming. This is an exceptional collection from a very underappreciated artist.

I assume that is the Roon interface, it looks very good SJB, nice music too.

Edward, sticking with MK and your contender for his best album is sound, problem is he has made so many good ones, I'm not sure which I could rate as his No.1...

Moving on to Morrissey, I picked this one up as part of a job lot as I have none of his solo stuff, being very put off by inky and glossy adulation in the late 80's.
This is quite a strong hits album though and I'm enjoying it. A marvellous cover of "That's Entertainment ".

I prefer Get Lucky as for me it is the only album that flows naturally from start to finish.

The hang man steps in to do what he's paid for
With the wind down the tide she goes proud ahead steaming
He drives her hard into the shore
So far from the Clyde
Together we ride we did ride

I was playing 'Get Lucky' last night...I like it but it's just a wee bit twee in places for me.

CD rip - on the Muso during dinner - very nice sound. New album due out in July. Gwilym Simcock has been playing as part of Pat Methenys new quartet apparently.
R.E.M. - Murmur, extended with a second disc of live recordings, very good they are too.
Something quieter to wind down with a medicinal brandy.

Agreed Steve all of marks albums are of a such a high standard it is almost impossible to pick a best album, if i had to pick a album it would be between "Kill To Get Crimson" and this one.
Shangri-La
Other contenders would be, well all of them.
Edward
Very early Suzanne Vega. She's refreshed many of these songs in her 'Close Up' series but these originals retain their magic. Nice to have both.
Yep, first few still magic
Joe Walsh. You Bought It - You Name It. On vinyl from 1983. Funky. Heavy on synths and production. Ted Jensen's mastering is fabulous.
Failed to post my yesterday's listening during my workout. I have now a better reflection at this album. I would say that the album wears off my multiple listening session. The first session you are left with the idea he less raw, they might have created another masterpiece. Now after multiple listens it's more like. Ok still interesting elements. But clearly to long and repeating elements while I still miss the normal rawness of the album. So in my opinion it becomes an average album, still good enough to listen every now and then but will not end up on my top 10 which should be the case as hardcore fan. Perhaps my opinion might change when I see them in concert in March...
Live in Nimes 2010. We decided to have Knopfler night in the house
