2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Testing another, seems to be a bit more straightforward and less adventurous ...
Another test...
A bit more musically interesting than the last album: Pat Metheny, 80/81
Just back from fighting the Christmas crowds in Sainsbury's and fancied something different. One of the Gaurdian's top classical albums. Quite enjoyable for a non-classical person like myself. Tidal.
One of my favourite releases in recent(ish) times
Tim Garland - One. Tidal. 2016 British Jazz. First listen - promising.
Another classic from pop's greatest year (1979). On vinyl:

Graeme, have you got the Japanese SHMCDs?
I can recommend them, too

I could play this until the Sun comes up.
Me too. A great album

Fifty next year this one was remastered in '97 and ripped from a Polydor CD, its not bad at all
Ryan Adams - Ryan Adams. 2014.
Because I just watched him on the "Great Songwriters" series Channel 4 and I've never really given this album much play-time.

I'll add my shout for these SHM - CD remasters.
I bought the box set, which contains all the studio albums, and, to my ears at least, they sound better than any of the subsequent remasters, including the most recent by Jimmy Page.
Yes, they're expensive, but I don't regret the outlay in the slightest.
On CD:-
Diana Krall - Christmas Songs
Drive by Truckers - American Band. Album of the year for me .
Never tire of the triple guitar attack on the opening track - always goosebumps-inducing.
Qobuz download.
1968 - Tidal...
Just listened to my last buy...
2002 - Tidal...

Good rock with great playing from Robin Trower as ever, I always enjoyed the late James Dewar's vocals on his albums a good fit.
