Merry Christmas Jeff! Never had you down as a Respighi man. If you don't know it you must try Belkis, Queen Of Sheba!

And Merry Christmas to you, Gary.  I know very little about classical music other than what I read or pick up from this thread.  I shall try Belkis, Queen Of Sheba, thank you for the recommend.

Church Windows is on Reference Recordings which were quite popular among magazine-reading audiophiles back in the day (similar to Mercury Living Presence, RCA Living Stereo, RealTime, etc).  As far as Respighi (on Mercury Living Presence), I also have "Ancient Aires and Dances for Lute", and "The Birds: Brazilian Impressions" paired with "The Fountains Of Rome, The Pines Of Rome".

I just know they (and my other classical) meet my needs along with recommendations here from Doug, Haim, EJ and others if I am in a mood for classical.  We have no children and no family so it is the background for a very quiet and peaceful Xmas morning. Be well and be safe, regards, Jeff A

Respighi isn't your typical classical aficionado's cup of tea, but Belkis is a riot and great fun. Cut from the same cloth as Church Windows, it's clearly been subsequently ripped off by the early soundtrack merchants for Biblical epics. The Pines and Fountains were one of the the earliest classical pieces I ever heard, so I'm instantly 13 again whenever I hear them

First listens to the top two - really enjoyable.

Mandolin Orange -  Blindfaller is one of my faves from 2016.

Gary, I enjoyed that and definitely heard similarities to Church Windows.  It was at quiet levels this morning, next time I listen I shall add a little volume, although I find myself listening at lower volumes in general as I am aging.  Thank you, sir.

My wife's favorite album over the last few weeks. I've auditioned some of Air's other material on Tidal, and find much of it, although very well played and produced, a little too dark for our tastes. The Moon Safari CD can be bought for under £2 on fleabay. I bought one to rip for the car.

It's a good album, Klyde. Mind you, for 2 quid I'd buy half a dozen: one for the car and give the rest away as a late xmas pressie.

1967 - Tidal... Stereo

The mono version of this on Tidal sounds very stale and I'm too lazy to get the vinyl out!

Kings of Leon, Walls.  I've got mixed views on this album, love some of the songs, especially Find Me, but not keen on the production which ruins others, far too much reverb.  Really looking forward to seeing them in Feb though.  24 bit Flac via Audirvana/Hugo
