What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
As I am wide awake and unable to sleep, again, I may as well listen to one of my fave albums by the world's greatest group. Rush, Signals, 24 bit Flac via Audirvana/Hugo
It's becoming apparent to me that I need to bolster my Knopfler solo album holdings.
Thanks for the motivation chaps. Strait to the "K" bin next time I'm digging through used CDs.
A nice album...
A bit mixed feelings with this one, I perhaps should listen it in full a couple of times after each other to fully appreciate it...
Pretenders. Eponymous debut on original vinyl from 1979. Lots of energy being infused into rock music by the punk side at the time. This is a wonderful melding of the two.
Currently listening to this on bandcamp..

Steve J posted:Recorded Christmas Eve 1968 this live CD of Mandel, Jerry Garcia, Elvin Bishop et al comes as part of the Harvey Mandel Snake Box and is worth the price of the boxset alone. Superb. It's an album to just close your eyes and immerse into the music.
I think that settles it and I will have to get the box set. I have Cristo Redentor and Games Guitars Play on vinyl and have been wondering about getting the set. I was going to ask you about the live set, but you have done so anyhow, and if it has Garcia... I expect you have it, but Stand Back Here Comes Charlie Musselwhite has great Mandel playing and a different take on Cristo Redentor.

Forgotten how good this gig was so played it again today.
On Tidal:-
Siri Gjære & Tord Gustavsen - Aire and Angels.
New to me and the only TG tracks available on Tidal.
Well I managed 6 tracks, boring voice, plinky plonky piano.
It really beats me that this type of music is so popular, each to their own I guess, and long may that reign.
Now:-
Harvey Mandel - Essential Guitar Masters. Much more to my liking.
I don't know how as a music enthusiast how I managed to miss so many artists. I knew of Canned Heat of course but not that harvey was their guitarist.
On CD:-
After watching this fantastic documentary on BBC Four last night..."
Jet'aime" The Story of french Song with Petula Clark, Exploring the story of the lyric-driven French chanson and its greatest artists, including Edith Piaf, Charles Aznavour, Juliette Greco, Anna Karina and Jane Birkin.
Inspired me to give this a spin..
The documentary is up on the iplayer if you are interested.
His third album and recommended for those who like Americana.
Because Ms Gardot's gorgeous voice, combined with inflection, articulation, phrasing and texture she uses so skilfully makes for an entirely seductive performance. Oooh, errrr, missus.
I like her!
A lot prefer Irish Tour, but this is my favourite Rory Live album.
You can call it what you want, I call it messin' with the kid.

Some vintage electronica on CD at 11 o'clock volume levels, naturally!
Christian Mcbride Trio - first time I've listened to this - like it Via Tidal.

+1 Ewemon. Lucky to see him on that tour. 'Bullfrog Blues' still gives me goosebumps.
