2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Melissa Etheridge - "Fearless Love" (2010)
Promised myself a play of this wonderful album when I saw it on here yesterday. The sax on this is delicious.

The Italian Tord Gustavsen...
The new Stones.
As promoted by Dave Marshall (of this parish) and Ken Bruce (of R2).
Dave, you said it took you back to 1963.... For me it's reminiscent (in a good way) of the fairly recent Scorsese film. This is my first listen and it's all good stuff, 6 tracks in.

1975 - Vinyl - U.K. First pressing...
Another one where the cover must be hanging up someone's ar5e, I mean wall, as Massimo says.
Initially I wasn't liking it so much, but it has grown on me...

Ah, Christopher_M,
Common factor, both ageing Jocks .............. whose taste in music, (and banter), is impeccable.

Bert,
It is the opposite with me. The more I listen to it the dryer it sounds, kind of loosing its soul. Lately I have been getting bored with Keith Jarrett as well so it must probably be my state of mind.
Now, that's an exquisite duo that will never bore me, it is a masterpiece. Unfortunately, both musicians are not among the living anymore.

A friend played this for me a couple of years ago. I expected the tired effort of a worn out artist, and was amazed at the freshness and the quality of the music. You are not David Crosby for nothing..

I think I can understand your feelings about Brad Mehldau. I heard him live a few summers ago, and I have a fistful of his CDs. In the end, to my ears it sounds like those long novels from young new writers, full of things and forgettable. As for Keith Jarrett, I'll take just one thing of his along on the desert island, his encore of Danny boy on the Tokyo Solo live DVD.
I'll have a listen at this Haden/Anderson duo.

First Clemmy's programme, now Sarah Walker's. Today's concerns all became a bit much. Rather nice to opt out of the conversation and instead soothe the mind.

I think it's because it sounds familiar. This is not the type of album to listen to every day, otherwise it get's boring. Every now and then it's great, when in the right mood.
