2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Stevie Wonder - Talking Book.
I'm taking the credit for planting the idea, by playing Innervisions yesterday evening

I did post Innervisions on here earlier this evening and suggested it was due to subliminal messages you were sending out! Stevie takes me back to my student days when his music made a strong impression on me.
In anticipation of - at some point in the distant future - sunnier times. On vinyl:
Thanks, Nigel. So I now see. I confess to missing your post because I only looked at the latest page. doh!

Esbjörn Svensson Trio - Good Morning Susie Soho
SBLs tighter than a knat's chuff on these driving, deep rhythms.

Let's get the party started. Original UK vinyl...
so far today, having a jazz early evening music listening session (all on ripped CD):
and now:
I ordered Stan Getz & Oscar Peterson based on a posting here a week or so ago.
Instead I got this:
I can definitely think of worse mistakes in my life!
Wrote to the seller, and if I am lucky I will get to keep this and he'll send the correct order. (Tends to happen with less than $5 CDs when the rare error is made.) If so, a 5 day early birthday present for me. If not, I will keep this anyway and pay again!
Update - the seller responded already, apologized, and he said that he'll mail me the correct CD (Getz/Peterson) with a SASE, and I can either return the wrong disk, or send him a $5 bill in the SASE & keep it.
Methinks he's getting the $5 refund I got today at Costco for a marked down item I bought a couple of weeks ago!
Those 2 discs delivered to my house for a total of about $12.46 is not a bad deal in my book.
Marc Ribot - Saints on ripped CD:
1958 - Vinyl (reissue 2011)...
UK first press. Seems like the ideal LP to play on NYE (even if side two has far too many cheesy, soppy, boring ballads):
to complete 2016 or for a new start in 2017 !!!
First album play of 2017 (to cleanse my ears of the hideousness of having to lisaten to Robbie fcuking Williams) is this masterpiece by Mr Callier from '72...
2016 - Vinyl...
Do I really need to paint a picture?
She's fabulous!

That's a great cover, Kev.
Happy New Year!

No, you and others have posted this enough here lately that I was compelled to sample the album. Not my cup o' for excitement, tempo, and musical drive, but I can readily appreciate the musical quality and artistry for something outside my usual listening. Thanks, but no repeated listens for me .
Pink Floyd. Music From The Film More (1969). On CD from 1995. A fairly recent addition to my PF catalog that gets better with each listen. Trippy, surreal, and sometimes folksy music with a creative mode and mettle that makes for an engaging album experience.
Pink Floyd. The Endless River. On CD from 2014. Once you get beyond the expectation of vocals it's quite a good album. Bigger mystery for me is the rather random inclusion of sax on the "Anisina" track, which I find distracting in the overall musical theme.
A interesting album to start the year with. He was never before so on my radar screen, but this is highly enjoyable...
