I really like Pogo's Bach. Virtuoso A minor suite, very fast but crystal clear.

Just found this on Tidal, only a few tracks in and so far so good. Placebo are a band I have liked but never bought. I'll give some of their older stuff a play soon.

These are essential IMO:

their debut...

...and a little more mature. Superb album!

Thanks Tony, I'll give them a spin!?!

This MTV Album is very good, not at all what I expected, well worth a listen. I will be buying it.

Bubble gum jazz from Japan.

Wings. Back To The Egg. On vinyl from 1979. Wings final album, I remember being somewhat disappointed with this on its releases. Definitely sold it short at the time as its charged with funk and energy. McCartney has a lot of fun, cutting loose throughout.

Tilson thomas/Boston Symphony: Stravinsky The Rite of Spring 1972 recording

Interestingly this early 1972 set has been remastered and reissued in SACD from Pentatone Label recently.

Atmospheric and mysterious opening. Rich and large orchestration. Tremendous weight and pretty volatile and potent 1st half as Stravinsky would have approved. This is  uncharacteristically brash and bold reading for MTT as he worked closely with the composer in preparation. The same intensity and wide dynamic contrasts throughout the score altho, the overall timing is still slower than composer’s. There also seems to be some revisoins in the back half where it gets a tad  confused and frantic (probably intentional ) Slightly more heavy handed in timpani than Stravinsky's but fits into this rugged and rough reading.

My first full-fat listen to this one and it's starting off well.

"Black Tape for a Blue Girl is an American Darkwave band formed in 1986 by Projekt Records' founder Sam Rosenthal. Their music takes on elements of dark wave, ethereal, ambient, dark cabaret and neoclassical music." - Band blurb on Bandcamp

Playing the first half of this ninety minute double album sized download which is a recent reissue and reprint of one of his best pieces of work. I can't disagree with this Bandcamp comment.

"Steve Roach’s 2-CD set seamlessly fuses three long unfolding soundworlds into a vibrant sonic odyssey. The result can only be described as a living, breathing "Arc of Passion". As one of the great pioneers of electronic music, Steve’s career has many musical highpoint  "Arc of Passion" proves to be another definitive statement along the path. Advanced response from listeners places this album at the top of the long list of must-have releases from Steve’s body of work. Steve reaches into his sonic palette to weave elements of his three definitive styles into a continuous, evolving flow. Rich harmonic chords, spiralling sequences and deep sky soundworlds move fluidly within this set."

Commune by Goat

Really good psychedelic rock, proto-metal fuzz and much more from this innovative Swedish band, that became a fast favourite here.
