2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Breakfast delight....
Eric Clapton. 461 Ocean Boulevard. On original vinyl from 1974. A classic album. His best IMO, "Unplugged" a close second.

Perhaps any answers should be in Streaming thread?
I started a topic on the streaming audio thread yesterday. No you don't need their hardware.
The vinyl bits from this super deluxe box. In terms of content, this was the best of the LZ reissues: some grest stuff in here.

Mogwai, a band who always seem to blend such good strong sounds together, this was their first album, a great foretaste of the post rock instrumental style of music to come from them over the next two decades.

Sorry must have missed that.
Music wise now:-
The Byrds - Turn! Turn! Turn! (best of)
A lot of people seem to be listening to this at the mo' and I haven't listened to it in yonks, so I thought I'd get me vinyl copy out.
The SQ and packaging is great, but it seems a bit anonymous, sterile (Gilmour's perfectionism got the better of him here), and no amount of buffing will improve dire material like "Take It Back", "A Great Day For Freedom", or "Learning To Fly".
There are much better boots of DSOTM from the 1972 - 75 period; in fact, there are much better, more atmospheric boots of the '94 tour than this. Some of thestuff - "One of These Days", "Any Colour You Like", "High Hopes" is splendid, but it probably works better on the "Pulse" DVD, where at least one has the visuals.
And I suppose there's the other question: is this really Pink Floyd?

Speaking of 'Floyd boots, this is a very enjoyable one comprising two John Peel sessions (he introduces them as The Pink Floyd) with the band showcasing early versions of new tracks in the lead up to Meddle and Atom Heart Mother.
Wonderful CD of systems music from 1995:
Nerina Pallot - Fires.
On CD:-

Because I haven't listened to this in a long while and its a very good album that mixes rock with prog and indie.

I'm sure you will enjoy discovering his solo albums Nick, he hasn't made a poor one.

A change of tack into some deeper, darker, grungy stoner psych rock.

In the mood for some more psychedelic stoner rock by this very good Polish band, this is their second album.

A brilliant album which I seem to play quite a lot recently
