Nerina Pallot - Fires.

A brilliant album which I seem to play quite a lot recently

Not sure I'd rate it that highly. For me she is similar to many female artists I already have music by. I would certainly play it again not sure if I'd purchase this album.

Worth preserving with, BigH.  For me this lady's talent only properly registered with me when a friend persuaded me to see her perform live.  Suffice to say that I'm very much looking forward to seeing her perform again in April.

Just had something of a 'doh' moment with this album.  While I've had it for ages and always liked it, it was only this evening that I noticed my CD is a special version with a second CD tucked away on the reverse side of the jewel case and on CD2 is a recording of her performing live in Paris in 2009.  And it's bl**dy good, too. A nice surprise but I do feel a bit of an idiot!

Looking at the River site, you must have an "import" package.  It lists the tracks of Disc 1 but also shows it as a 2 disc release with no listing for the 2nd disc.  A nice surprise for you indeed.

Yes, Jeff. There's a discreet red sticker on the front saying 'UK 2CD Special Edition'. The Live in Paris listing is:

The Rain; Ain't No Surprise; Baby I'm A Fool; My One and Only Thrill; and, Love Me Like A River Does.

All very atmospheric.

I have had it saved over at Spotify for a couple weeks and haven't gotten to it.  Mon's opinion  is the kick I needed.  I am going to try and get to it tomorrow.  Thanks, Ewen.  Be well.Jeff A

Tried this briefly via Spotify last year - your post has prompted me to give it whirl again now via Tidal - sounding good - thanks for the reminder.

Haven't heard this since mid 70s. It was the first time I'd heard Pinchas and the Sibelius and I was forever getting it out of the library.  On Tuesday I found this copy in London. Very broad and dark performance.  Now I remember why I so much liked Zuckerman's playing.  LPO excellent too.

Have just download Ester Yoo's new recording of the Sibelius from Qobuz.  Will try that one evening soon.
