Playing side one of this double album, disc two contains live tracks recorded at the Gloria Theatre in Cologne. Fantastic progressive (post-progressive) album from this Norwegian band who get better and better.
"It was the band's first true concept album in that it is one long song split into five parts. The album has been completely re-mastered (in 2012) for this Kscope edition. Gazpacho have honed their unique sound over a string of critically acclaimed albums and numerous tours, including several with long-time supporters Marillion."
Just continuing to play this, now on to the well recorded live CD.

Bill Evans Trio - Waltz for Debby (1961), nice mastering on this Analogue Productions SACD from the 'original analogue tapes..using all tube electronics' by the late great Doug Sax.
Surely one of the best jazz trio recordings of all time. No, not one of, but THE greatest jazz trio recording of all time. Maybe even the best jazz recording ever.
All IMHO, of course!

It's not bad - but there are others which would compete for that title...

Yes, of course, Bert. There's 'Sunday at the Village Vanguard'.
But personally, I adore 'Waltz for Debby' just that bit more, especially that opener, 'My Foolish Heart'.

The first in a series of three wonderful CDs of their live gigs recorded in Boston 5th-7th February 1970. For me this is 'Macs best period when it was Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. Just listen to those guitars of Peter Green and Danny Kirwan... It is a far cry from what they went on to become,

Tank you for bringing this artist and album to my attention, after posting on the forum last night i saw your entry and thought i would have a listing on Spotify, i new then that i had to have this album so this morning i headed into HMV then FOPP in Glasgow where i was able to get a copy, got home ripped a copy with dbpoweramp and sat down and listened on my muso, stunning this is one of the best new music albums i have heard in several years.
To the best of my memory i have never heard of Vince Gill or ever heard any of his music on the radio so he is a new artist to me, i am 54 years old. I have about 2 terabytes on music on my nas, i have only one country music album in my collection, Kenny Rogers "The Gambler" 24bit 192kHz, one thing i am absolutely sure of if Vince's past albums are as good as this one i will be buying all of his back catalog, do you have any recommendations that you consider must have albums in his back catalog.
Edward
Some Disclosure to go with my Friday night glass of red wine. Sounding mighty fine!

Over the last hour i have listened to "Next Big Thing" now listening "Guitar Singer" on Spotify, i am very happy with what i am hearing, what i notice so far is the similarities with Mark Knopfler, i have every album mark has ever done and there is no songs that i hit the next track button on, when i play any album i play the hole album every song, this is what i am hearing with Vince's music so far, ever song is of a high standard.
My music collection is growing thanks to this forum, it is a grate source of new music, i am now listing to music that i would not have listen to ten years ago.

Just had something of a 'doh' moment with this album. While I've had it for ages and always liked it, it was only this evening that I noticed my CD is a special version with a second CD tucked away on the reverse side of the jewel case and on CD2 is a recording of her performing live in Paris in 2009. And it's bl**dy good, too. A nice surprise but I do feel a bit of an idiot!

Thanks very much for posting this Mike, after seeing it I checked my order (from the River about 7 months ago) and it would seem that I too unwittingly bought the imported two CD album with the live Paris performance on disc two! A trip up to the attic is called for this weekend to find, unbox and rip it. What a pleasant surprise.

Somewhat reassuring to learn that I'm not the only one to miss this, Steve
A bit of Ray L. Seems appropriate somehow given the miserable weather this evening. I could do with the glow of a traditional wood fire to complement the album though.

On vinyl...not played this for a while, sounding brilliant!!
Followed by another great album from Melody....
On vinyl...stunning!!
Don Cherry - Art Deco. This popped up on random play in the car today. Haven't played it for years. sounding pretty good this evening. Mr Cherry's (RIP) trumpet can be an acquired taste though on some tracks - but an excellent quartet with James Clay, Charlie Haden & Billy Higgins. CD rip : WAV.
Magnificent..

Tough case to argue against if you consider the trio interplay, the lush live recording, and that the same recording date (25 June 1961) also produced 'Live at the Village Vanguard' & other takes released much later 'More from the Vanguard'- all underlined by LaFaro's tragic death a few days after the date. Legendary stuff for sure, the best jazz recording ever? - mmmh, may be safer with best live trio jazz by vote..!
Acoustic 44/24. Sounding superb
Another one from my collection unearthed by Roon.
