The history of this wonderful chamber music venue is interesting. Originally built to show off Bechstein Pianos, it was not surprisingly called the Bechstein Hall. During the First World War, German names became so unpopular that the Royal familly changed from Saxe Coburg Gotha to Windsor, and the Bechstein Hall became the Wigmore Hall ...
It is also a superb place from which the BBc broadcast chamber music.
Thanks for an interesting historical bits. I wasn't even aware that Bechstein was still in business. ( I assume they are owned by some big corporation by now )
Historically that UK has a strong tie to Germany ( A few German kings ruled the UK  and that I read Queen Victoria even spoke German at home since her husband Albert was from the house of Saxe Coburg Gotha indeed.
Bechstein piano remind me of Backhaus and Lipati. ( below )

Hi Cariocajeff,is that the Alan Hull that was in Lindisfarne ?
Yes Wenger that is the Alan Hull who was in lindisfarne. This was a solo album he did. As also posted others in the band went off to form jack the Ladd, whose lead vocalist was Billy Mitchell. After several iterations of the band after the original 5 members reformed, Billy became the lead vocalist of Lindisfarne and did 2 albums Promamade and Here comes the neighbourhood, both excellent albums with some amazing talent, in the form of Billy, Dave Hull-Denholm (hulls son in law) and Ian Thompson. Incidently Dave and Ian are currently finishing recording an album of Alan Hulls previously unpublished work. After chatting with them on Facebook it seems they are trying to get it released on 'non-floppy vinyl' as well as CD. Looking forward to that!
Saw Lindisfarne and the support was Peter Gabriel (masks and all) and Genesis during the Fog on the Tyne era.
Salonen: Salonen Foreign Bodies 2004 Recording
Cross between Stravinsky and Debussy with a dash of Bartok. Strong rhythmic back bone mixed with lush dense opulent orchestration.
Interesting use of percussions provide earthy accents. The final movement has a lyrical moments yet riding on a tremendous rhythmic energy culminating to what appears to be like the finale of the Firebird. It’s apparent that this score is strongly influenced by Stravinsky.

Very nice jazz trio album - play this a lot. Tidal
I was buying a Norton licence on the River late yesterday afternoon and accidentally clicked to have the free trial on its Prime service. So I bought a CD just to see if it really would be delivered today. By 10:00am today (Sunday) this was on the doormat:
Daft Punk.............on Tidal.
Nice and mellow Sunday afternoon music, with superb rhythm guitar from the master, Nile Rodgers.
Drive By Truckers
was listening Jason Isbell earlier - thought I'd give his old band another airing. Dirty southern rock
Not to be played on shitty speakers according to the record label!
