Sending DSD file to nDac through SPDIF

Posted by: Sourav on 04 January 2016

I am trying to get DSD files played by nDac through SPDIF.

The DSD files are in my Mac Mini. I'm using JRiver to send them as DoP. However in between Mac Mini and nDac I have to use a USB to SPDIF adapter like Musical Fidelity Vlink 192 or PeachTree Audio X1. However both of them support till maximum 192 khz.

Will this cause any problem to pass the DSD files ?

When I playing DSD64 files on V1, it shows up as 176,4 kHz DoP, so your converter should handle it no problem.  DSD128 file is displayed as 352,8 kHz DoP though, but good quality DSD128 are rarity and 99% of those will be awful sounding vinyl rips from the internet.

As Andrius says a 192kHz converter will only be able to transmit DSD64 and not DSD128 or higher.
