recapping 300, only with dr-upgrade?

Posted by: christoph on 06 January 2016

Hi all, i asked my dealer for a recap of my 300 because it is now 10 years old. i got the answer, that Music-line, the german distributor, only offers a recap with the dr-upgrade which costs 2895 euro.  i don't have the money at the moment and only want a recap. Also i think it is the first time for naim that they do not offer a service for an older (?) amp. is it the same in gb or is it only a problem here in Germany? Thanks for your answers. christoph

send it to Darran @ Class A in UK. or speak to Steve Hopkins @ Naim HQ.

This is simply not acceptable. There are plenty of good Naim dealers in UK who will help you out, I can recommend, (in no particular order) UHES, Cymbiosis, Billy Vee, Audio-T and Signals.

Maybe time to change to more helpful dealers as shipping within EU has no issues of VAT or Duty

Christoph - I suggest that you mail Naim and check. My advice to you is that if you think you will one day want the DR upgrade, you should save up and get this and the recap done together, as it's cheaper that way than doing the recap first and then the DR upgrade. The amp will be fine for another couple of years. On the other hand, if you only want the recap and don't think you'll want the DR, I'm sure Musicline will be able to do it, once they have spoken to Naim.

thanks for the answer. i must say that is not the problem of the dealer but of the distributor. my dealer is very helpful, he only tells me what the distributor, who is responsible for the recapping said.  i will send a mail to Steve Hopkins to ask if this is uusal.

thanks hungryhalibut. i want the dr upgrade , but my 300 begins to have some issues (stops working, crashes fuses) so i think it is definitly time for the recap and Service. and now i cannot (or will not) pay nearly 3000,00 Euro) christoph; PS: and i love the sound of my 300 and i will not dr upgrade it before i have heard the upgrade...
