I really don't see the point of upgrade without the service, but hey...

it may not be necessary to service a relatively 'young' amp.

It may not be necessary to service my 300 yet but if/when I do the DR it's going to get a service 

When did you purchase the units? I understood that if you have ordered them within less than three months before the DR announcement, say after mid-February 2015, your are entitled to a large discount from your dealer for the upgrade.

I don't own a 250 just yet. Contemplating a second hand purchase as they're so cheap at the mo, then going through the upgrade / service path. 

Here in Australia, a new 250.2 (non DR) is now for sale at $5500!! A new DR is $7200.  That's a bargain for a 250.2!

If you wanted to upgrade it to DR later, I don't think you'd be saving any money.

Or wait for the first S/H DRs next year..

250.2's are as low as £1350 in the uk at the moment
