Concerts planned for 2016.
Posted by: dave marshall on 12 January 2016
The "concerts planned" topic seems to have fallen by the wayside somewhat, so I thought I'd try to resurrect it with the following.
Massive Attack, at Leeds O2, on the 27th of this month.
Hoping for a chilled evening.
Dave.
I have already a couple planned but more will follow:
Piano Concerts / Recitals of Behzod Abduraimov, Katia Buniatishvili, Lang Lang + perhaps I will also book Uchida in addition
Pop/ Rock: Marco Borsato, Dreamtheater
North Sea Jazz Festival
A few planned at the moment:
Lucinda Williams, Teddy Thompson and the Milk Carton Kids in the next month or so,
and much later in the year, the Aussie Pink Floyd. It will be interesting to compare them with Brit Floyd, whose performance impressed me last year.
Concerts booked so far;
Symphony Hall Birmingham; Shostakovich 10th Symphony in Feb & Mahler 5th Symphony in March
WNO; Marriage of Figaro in March & Cav & Pag in June
Opera North; Ring Cycle at Nottingham in June (apart, that is, from Siegfried, which unfortunately clashes with the previously booked Cav & Pag !!)
ENO; Magic Flute in Feb & Tristan und Isolde in June, I’m looking forward to hearing Stuart Skelton sing Tristan, he was very good as Peter Grimes a couple of years ago.
Last Autumn I also applied for tickets for a new production of Parsifal at Bayreuth in August, I will find out if I have been successful on 15th Jan. very exciting, but not holding out much hope.
I also intend to go to Marriage of Figaro & Tannhauser at Longborough this summer.
Richard Hawley - Manchester Apollo - February
Noel Gallagher - Leeds Arena - April
AC/DC - Etihad Stadium - June
The Stone Roses - Etihad Stadium - June
Planning on seeing Nerina Pallot at the Wedgwood Rooms in Portsmouth on 19th April.
I've been invited to Elton John at Blenheim Palace in June. VIP tickets should make up for the possibility of inclement weather or Sharon's voice failing.
Natalie Merchant, March 16th.
The Buzzcocks, March 11th, The Factory Theatre, Marrickville, NSW 2204, Australia
The Who - Wembley Arena Feb
Kula Shaker - Roundhouse Feb
Israel Nash - The Garage Feb
Caravan - Union Chapel March
Melody Gardot at the London palladium 19th March
Hozier later this month at Brixton Academy.
The Cure in December (!) and the one and only Giant Sand in April
Two planned so far at the Turner Sims, Southampton:
Paul Lewis piano recital on the 4th Feb.
Tord Gustavsen on the 3rd Mar.

You're in for a real treat with that, Tobyjug. Saw her at the RFH before Xmas when she and her band were awesome.

Nobody else for Massive Attack ?
Ought to be a deeply chilled evening.
Seriously though, the benefits of this topic lie in the fact that other folks have already alerted me to upcoming live appearances which I'd completely missed.
It's all good,
Dave.
Note: Jane Getter band features Adam Holzman
First one tonight. London Phil doing Tchaikovsky, Elgar and Rimsky Korsakov: http://brightondome.org/event/...ic_orchestra_201415/
