Custom made monitors with Scan Speak chassis and Mundorf caps for the crossover.

My Naim dealer develops diy speakers voiced with Naim electronics - I love these speakers for their speed, the fun they bring even at low listening volume and the lack of listening fatigue

I do like those stands.  They really suit the proportions of your speakers...

WTPRC – can you sketch the advantages of the Grahams over the Nines, in your system? Thanks!

They are equally footed with plus or minus.  Here's my take on them with a SN2 and vinyl as source:

The Nines have the bigger scale but midrange is not open like the Graham.  The soundstage on the Graham doesn't compare to the deepness of the Nines.  Grahams don't play as loud as the Nines and do require power to really sing well.  Overall, the Grahams are transparent and musical which presents a different satisfying style over the Nines.  As you know, the Nines are better with valve gear and I feel with ample solid state watts for the Graham you'll be very happy!  The SN2 is a great match with the Graham and is next on my gear acquisition list.

Not surprised - thats one of the speakers ive pencilled in to consider one day if i decide to replace my old IMFs - an obvious contender, given TL and scale, and PMCs founder allegedly started out from his love of the big imfS like mine.

what do you feed them with?

Posted on: 20 January 2016 by Finkfan

Wow! Those PMCs are an impressive speaker Tony!

full n system in the living room

also acoustic energy ae1 speakers that I need to try out in the main system to see if I still should keep them or look for SL2s

Tony, these are my kinda speakers. They appear easy to drive, can you explain what they sound like? Does the ATL keep the bass tight?

I have a pair of Paradigm 95f in midnight cherry with my Superuniti. I love the combination.

Rosewood ProAc D40R.

They replaced Focal Scala Utopia; I prefer the ProAc's!

The ProAc's are easier to drive, not so clinical and sound better at low volume. The Scala's were more like PA speakers IMO!

Yes definitely a fan. I didn't see it first time around but binge-watched all of it once I had the box-sets! That and the Sopranos, two of the best from US TV!

i came from IMF's then went TDL the Monitor, so it was a logical step to go to big PMC's. I have always loved the transmission line sound and saw no reason to change especially as the are happy against a wall. They are fed with a 552DR/300 which drives them as loud as i would like and then some as they are in a smallish room (4 sq m), but when funds allow will go for a 500. and yes bass is tight down to 20htz, not that there is much that gets that low. if you want a listen you are welcome PM me or the Hifi Lounge has a later pair on demo
