Supernait 3

When is the release of the sn3?

I would like to have DR pre section, n009 transistor, statement volume control and maybe a statement inspired casework? Naim, lets start casework change with sn3.

Oh, additionally good to have pre section electronics go into sleep during playback. And price it at £3950.

Based on product life cycle, it should be another 3-4 years. Just guessing.

We will see NDX2 and the refreshed NAC282/252 sooner I am sure!

Haha.. I am loving the simplicity of integrated too...

Yes, integrated is the way to go.

+1. Nice that Naim is including the HP-outs in the integrated as well. (Or so I thought until I heard it .)

Next step would be to include a slot for a phono card . Can you imagine a new Naim integrated with a 'phono' button? And a single PSU upgrades the entire system!

Not quite yet please.. Took delivery of the SN2 in December. It's a very good amp btw :-)

Actually I would like the SN3 to be even more analog than the current SN2.  Get rid of headphones. Get rid of remote etc... Make it back to shoebox size like the originals but with current SN2 power output.

That would be a SuperQute.

SN3 to look like this? Volume on top and 1/10 of the statement height?

Posted on: 20 January 2016 by engjoo

Cosmetic aside, I would say:

- Cut down on the number of inputs. We do not need more than 4 most of the time some cost can be reduced.

- Further refinement in the preamp section (DR power supply ?). I some of these design elements to bederived from the next classic preamp refresh which I think will happen within the next 2 years.

- Updated volume control.

- Improved mechanical isolation and vibration control.

Since we are all dreaming of a "baby statement" integrated. Can anyone clarify how are the source selection done on the statment preamp front panel ? Was it based on capacitive touch sensing ?

My Nait 2 will see the SuperQute out the door.

Input selection done via the volume control

Clean fascia with no buttons.

At 1/10 height of a Statement, would it be a "Murmer"?

A mini me... naim will ask £13,950 for it which would be a steal at this price. Moving mfg to China may bring this down to £3950

Posted on: 20 January 2016 by joerand

So the SN3 is Mini Me? I guess that makes the Statement Dr. Evil?

Posted on: 20 January 2016 by kaydee6

Yes, no better analogy than this...

Posted on: 20 January 2016 by analogmusic

Naim cannot make the SN to sound better than the 202/200DR

simple as that.

This would indeed be a trickle-down from the statement preamp: no headphone amp or line out there - plainly surprising (I only noted this recently).

I just would like to keep it 'as is' but with n009 transistors, a DR power section and pleeeeeaaaseee......don't omit the powered aux-2 like they did on the 272  ;(

Steve Sells please comment ....

You are right with that. That is why I believe the SN3 will be released only after the next round of preamp refresh to bring them up to the next nevel.

Hasn't the SN2 a DR pre section already?

I doubt very much there will be a preamp refresh, we have been talking about this for 5 years now.

The preamps are as good as they can be, and the refresh was the DR Hicap, DR supercap, and DR for 552

and now, the further improvement came from the DR amps.

As they sometimes say, the Power Supply is the Hi-fi

That is it folks. We got the software upgrade in the NDAC and DAC V1

maybe it is time to just enjoy the music for a change?

I certainly do on my Naim kit, every day that I can.

I'm sure that is what Naim also intended : for all of us who bought their kit to have some fun, and enjoy the music.

In any case, Naim does not want you to stop at the SN2 level if you want more,  because the separates they created were always better, and there is some pretty accomplished kit to try out, like 202,282,252 and then 552.

Preamp of SN2 already has DR power supply.
