New speakers cables
Posted by: Anto68 on 22 January 2016
Hi all,
I am using a normal speakers cable Monster S16 standard 1 FT and I would like to upgrade it. I want to buy the Nordost White Lightning (here in Italy cost 350 euro). There is someone who know or use these cables?
You think I would get more transparency and better sound quality? Or only an extremely sensitive ear can hear the difference?
I also look forward any suggestions about other cables brands. My music system consists Unitilite, Elac BS 263 loudspeaker, Rel Sub.
Seattlenaim,
Another welcome from another Seattleite. We've got a nice community of Naim enthusiasts in the Puget Sound region. Hope to hear more from you here. Cheers!
Very cool! Didn't know we had so many....Must get dialed into the local PSR Naim community. Thanks for the warm welcome!

WTCRP,
How do you like the cryo'd NACA5? Did you get it from AVOpions?

Another vote for NACA5, I know it is now quite expensive for what it is, but does work optimally with Naim amps.. Lots of voodoo around with speaker cables... the consumer audio industry is notorious for it.

I have found NACA5 to work very well indeed.
However, I found cryogenic treatment to be a bit brutal, resulting in a hard, brittle sound.
A long, gentle heat treatment by domestic radiator, while mounting the cable on a bed of tufted merino wool seemed to bring about a warmer, more comfortable sound.
YMMV.
Best regards from a compulsive cable tweaker.
NACA5 takes me to the guts of the music and provides an emotional connection. The few others I sampled seemed more like tweaks to a genuine presentation. Room correction or taste correction maybe? What ever the case, I'm going through room treatment with my emotional NACA5 happily intact.
TQB works very nicely with the SN2 to Ovator S-400.

Foot tapper, I found resting the speaker cables on a bed of afghan mouse hair, braided of course, to be far superior then tufted merino wool......just saying
Are the mice, like, still alive?
No mice were harmed in the making of this upgrade....it does require however the mice to keep very still....which can be tricky...
Did you remember to rub the mice's noses in cocaine first?
Yes, that's the slightly controversial bit, the key is, just enough not to much, which as previously mentioned is the tricky bit.....

I prefer to just leave it coiled up and get the cat to sleep on it - really makes it purr. ![]()
Wireless speakers will be the bane of cable manufacturers. Sorry, OP for the detour off topic.

+1!
Hi Wenger
how do remove the hair from said mice? Are they shaved or plucked?
I cannot give away any secrets, but the mice do have smiles on their faces during the process....
Please tell me they're organic and free range?!
Hi Finkfan, if I'm honest the smiles are more to do with the cannabis then being organic or free-range ....
Well as long as it doesn't effect their hair in any negative way I guess that's ok.
I know you won't give much away as to the production details but I guess it's safe to assume that the hair is also washed and conditioned so that its 'squeaky' clean before the braiding process.
Will have to have a demo at some point
I ordered online a pair of Tellurium Q Black with formula money back so in case of dissatisfaction I can opt for Naca5. For those who will be affected I will communicate my thoughts.
If not for this amazing comunity I never dared to buy a product from me unknown but I trust in you too much.
Thank you for sharing my magical journey with Naim.
Cheers from Milan

Yes the cats are free range, and, for myself, I've never yet met a completely inorganic cat. The cables however I believe are both organic and inorganic at the same time.
Hi finkfan, if I'm honest it's head and shoulders!!! Above anything else I've tried...
Another TQ Black vote here.
I can't find TQ cable down under. Can anyone suggest where to buy for the best price please? Thanks.
