New speakers cables
Posted by: Anto68 on 22 January 2016
Hi all,
I am using a normal speakers cable Monster S16 standard 1 FT and I would like to upgrade it. I want to buy the Nordost White Lightning (here in Italy cost 350 euro). There is someone who know or use these cables?
You think I would get more transparency and better sound quality? Or only an extremely sensitive ear can hear the difference?
I also look forward any suggestions about other cables brands. My music system consists Unitilite, Elac BS 263 loudspeaker, Rel Sub.
To Finkfan, if it makes you smile then it's worth every penny.
You can't put a price on happiness!
Great to hear all the positive stories. TQ cables do take a long time to burn in if new but also need time to settle in if ex demo/sh so if your hearing a positive first impression then it's only going to get better!
pre-owned TQB that says non-directional on the box; did it become directional from previous use? I don't mean this as a dumb question but it probably is
It may show a preference to one way round over the other. I'm sure after settle in time though it wouldn't make much difference

TQB links arrived today :-)
NACA5 will not be re-installed
Today i received a TQ black but I have some question because I'm a little confused about some features:
on the packaging i read "your speaker are NOT directional". Inside the box I found instead a piece of paper written in Italian (I bought the cables from a Italian dealer) but that generally refers to the models Q and not model Q black; the paper says "i cavi di segnale sono direzionali collegare nel senso delle frecce o delle scritte" Traslated " "signal cables are directional, connected in the sense of the directional arrows or written.
Help
The packaging is correct. The speaker cables are not directional. I myself do use my cables in a curtain way and have the writing running from amp to speakers. T at the amp, k towards the speakers. The note may be referring to the interconnect cables. I know when I demoed TQ cables last year the RCA interconnects had direction arrows (source to amp) and the black din had one on it too.
When I had TQB speaker cables I was told that they are not directional. However, once they have been used, they should always be installed in the same direction. Having the T at the amp end and the m at the speaker end would be logical.
Thanks, I'll wait a few weeks before to give my opinion, I read that it takes about 300 hours before getting optimal results even if the first few minutes the sound stage was extremely exciting.
Enjoy your music Anto!
I Will Finkfan, thanks for having recommended TQ

I bought mine used; guess I'll try them both ways
You'd hope the previous owner used them in the same direction HH and I would, as would most others! But you never know. Let us know what you hear!
Recently changed from NACA5 to Tellerium Q and it feels like a real enhancement in sound quality for relatively modest outlay. I am also appreciating how easy they are to physically use and have within my system. I would thoroughly recommend them and to me they feel like an advancement in terms of clarity, tone and separation.

I bought mine from a fellow Forum member - he's used them with the T at the speaker end, and advised me to do the same. When I sold them I advised the new owner which way round to use them. So that should be fine.
Agreed. Out of interest are the SLs marked for direction at all?
They are. With the speaker cables you follow the (tiny) writing. Luckily with a din to XLR you cannot go wrong! With the din to din there is a grey band at one end, but it's very, very similar to the black band at the other. Subtly understated, or invisible, depending on your eyesight.
Ah ok. Not seen, or heard any so will have to have a sneaky peak at the Bristol show
Hi Finkfan, I'm also going to the Bristol show, we ought to meet up, I'll be wearing Tq black power lead overcoat, with nap 250 trousers, unless I upgrade in the meantime !!!!
Haha! I'll be the guy with coffee in hand drooling over the statement!
BTW, I hear EDF are sponsoring the Statement demo.
I heard it was Hinckley Point nuclear power station, it is near Bristol
Will there be a dedicated supply from Hinckley?

TQB makes John Martyn's mumbling Solid Air vocal intelligible ... wow
