Rip Off Ticket Prices (2011 version!)

Last time this subject was aired I seem to recall that people were complaining about £50 ticket prices. Well ticket prices are now heading for the stratosphere! I just checked to see the price of Streely Dan tickets in NYC. For two tickets the fee was $350. No doubt Ticket Master would have added its monstrous surcharge to this too.

I recall I recently checked out ticket prices for Herbie Hancock and found similar numbers, although I think that was the Sterling price.

I think I shall have to content myself with listening to the albums. At least these can be relied upon for performance and mix. Actually, that's another favourite rant; what is it with mixing desk sound 'engineers'? Are they all deaf?

Thats certainly a lot of money for a tribute band

I was tempted to see Steely Dan on their last UK tour, but when I saw the prices I decided I didn't want to see them that much.

I paid £55 to see Rush a couple of weeks ago, but they played for 2 3/4 hours, so I felt I had got my money's worth.

I don't know how much of a show Steely Dan put on, and how intimate the venue is. I looked at VDGG at  TV recording and a meet the band where the tickets were in the £100s, but I waited and saw the in a tiny venue in Manchester this year for £23 I think. Glad I did so.

Not sure who I would pay three figures to see in concert, and how sterile it would make the crowd being the few rich fans rather than those who would give it some great atmosphere.
