What colour are your speaker cables?

Mine are black on my main system and white on my second system.
What colour are your speaker cables?
I was told by my dealer the white cable is the older version, and the black is current. I don't know if there is a difference in quality.
Brown on the main system, and non existent on the second.
Black.
It matches perfectly with my ungrilled speaker cones and their plinths.
That's what it's all about isn't it?
I just hope they fade in a coordinated fashion!
Yeh but your speaker cones are not laying all over your corn colour carpet !!! ![]()
Point well-taken Mike, but how'd you know I've got corn colour carpet?
Is this thread genuine or just testing whether people will respond to anything if a response relates to their system?
It's clearly a mickey take on the what speakers do you have, and what speaker cables do you have threads. For all their use one may as well ask the length of people's inside leg, or what they had for breakfast.

In that case the cable is brown and sticky and runs to a pair of white porcelain cones (firing upwards of course).
Serious bottom end on that setup.
Mine's black, 32", sausage.
Now you're just boasting.

I have had 2 concerns with the use of NACA5 in our system:
- It has constrained musical dynamics through lack of ability to pass enough current on transients
- It is cumbersome to bend around corners.
Fortunately, both of these issues are now overcome, with the added bonus of a nice black & yellow colour scheme - see below:
The new, Italian cable:

And a coil of it prior to placing under the living room carpet:

The manufacturer even does bespoke installations from its factory near Naples!
Peak current capacity is specified at 2,200 amps, which we hope will be sufficient, even for an orchestral crescendo.
Time will tell.

3,5 kilometres minimum lenght i suppose? ![]()
FT, brilliant
, love it!
Gianluigi, now that would be silly.
The cable is delivered on bobbins. Each bobbin has circa 100km length, 8,000ton weight of cable.
I am currently trying to buy some PU foam cable lifters that stop floor vibrations from causing microphony effects in the cable's conductors. Any suggestions most gratefully received.
Best regards, FT
Hi FT,
You should try plumber's foam pipe insulation as it works well. It's a very light weight close cell foam and can be cut easily into discs. It's also as cheap as chips.
Here's an old photo from when I first used it.

I'll bring some with me when we meet up.
Steve
I also use foam pipe insulation as in Steve's example with good results.

Now i should get a flat for rent say in Treviso for the amps and sources and pay someone to sit and wait to change the records!
I keep my whyte nacas! ![]()
Gianluigi,
That would seem to be entirely appropriate. We are looking forward to a holiday in Arabba in a few weeks time, so there is even time to lay the cable from Treviso by then.

Thank you Steve, incredibly kind of you.
Have you seen my post which is 4 posts above yours? In the circumstances, plumber's pipe foam may be quite short lived...
Best regards, FT
That pipe insulation is too dense for isolating the speakers cables. Needs to be much thicker, softer & lighter. Foam that is typically sold as sound insulation is better and I'll leave it with you to find your ideal grade.
Thanks Count.D
