will my nac 202 sound better with a supercap on it than a hicap please my dealer has offered me one at a good price.
Yes BUT if it were me I'd upgrade the 202 to a 282 first.

Me too.
Me three.
........ and another one
If it's a really good price and you intend upgrading to a 282 or better in the near future then go for it. But if you're not intending to upgrade the pre then it seems like overkill. The HiCap Dr on the 202 is excellent.
282 makes more sense, but what's the rest of the system ?
i will be going to upgrade to a 282 just wonderd if the 202 would sound better with supercap for now
my system is cdx2 with xps2 202 with hicap dr napsc 2 linn 242 speakers all running on powerlines and a highline .
Will the dealer let you borrow it to try at home? That would be the best way to answer your question about the potential improvement in sound quality. If you are going to upgrade to the 282 later then getting a Hicap now would seem like a wasted step as you'll want to upgrade to a supercap later anyway. It comes down to how good a price the Supercar is I suppose.
Plenty decent front end then. 282 would be where i would go, but if the SC is a really good price....
hi marksnaim ive got hicap running my 202 ive had it nearly two years now just wonderd if the 202 would improve with the supercap . the supercap is 1695 witch is a good price i think its a 2008
Oh it'll definitely sound better. Presumably you'll sell the Hicap to help fund the Supercap so whether the improvement is worth what it'll cost you only you can answer. If it was me I'd do it though.
my dealer has given me 650 for my hicap
At £1,045 net cost then I'd certainly do it. IMHO a value for money upgrade even if it's not the normal route. Let's face it, what's really VFM in this hobby?
I am sure you realise that a Supercap from 2008 would not be the DR version, so you might want to factor that upgrade cost in as a potential improvement when using it with a 282.

I added a supercap to a 32 and used that for several years before the right 52 turned up. If your ultimate goal is a 282 or 252 then go for it. Indeed if going for a 252 you'll need to get the supercap in advance or at the same time.
Willy.
I used a Nait3R with a Supercap and I used that for several years till the right 52 turned up.
I think this is why I have such a high opinion of my Nait 3R. ( see you can't do that with a Nait 2! ) ![]()
Sounds like a value for money move but you won't get full value from the supercap without a 282. Isn't upgrading fun?
I added a supercap to my 102 a few months (maybe even a year or two) ahead of getting a 52. It certainly did improve the sound - but I did it in the full knowledge that I was getting a 52 or a 252.
i,am picking up this saturday so i will let you know what i think thanks for all ur answers , has any one tried a 555 ps with a cdx2
If you get the SC you can consider skipping the 282 upgrade completely and going for a 252. There's another current thread about the relative merits of 282/252.
I fancy a supercap on my 32.5. Try it and see. You could always take it back if you don't like it!

I agree with that strategy. Based on my listening tests, you could (should?) skip the 282 altogether and go straight from 102 to 52 or even 252. In that context buying supercapping your 102 makes plenty of sense. I ran a 102 with a 140, 250.1 and 300 (!) and got great music at every step.
wow what a difference with the supercap and it has only been powered up two hours, my dealer has told me it will get better upto a month carn,t wait
Yes, they are very good. Is it new? If not, it should be fully on song within a day or two, if not overnight.
