cdx2

can anyone tell me if i put my cdx2 on a piece of marble on top of my oak rack will it improve the sound
Urn - only one way to find out. I once tried my CDX2 on an Audiophile Base shelf on top of my Quadraspire - can't say I could hear any difference.
How do you propose to dampen vibrations? Stone and wood alone will not do it...
It may be worth trying a Fraim glass and balls, which give a real improvement on Isoblue racks, which are made of wood. Adding a slab of marble is most unlikely to yield positive improvements.
Try it. You'll never know until you try it.
put some spikes or nuts/balls below this Chopping board bamboo
Is it not the purpose and design of a good quality rack to negate the need to do exactly this.....alternatively maybe if the whole rack was made out of marble....?

You mean a bit like a kitchen work top, Wenger?
So ACEONE (OP) should maybe move his kit into the kitchen, assuming he has a marble work top (or someone else's kitchen if he hasn't), to try it for SQ ? Good idea. That's what I call 'thinking outside the box' ![]()
Hi RJStaines,
Plus as a bonus, it may well be close to the coffee machine....it's a win, win situation...
Just keep it away from the microwave!
Hi Finkfan, if the cdx2 would fit in the microwave, that just might make it sing....
Or scream!
Are the feet different on the cdx2 compared to the other CD players?
Yes - they are finished in metal rather than plastic / rubber. Designed sepcifically to sit on a glass shelf, with a small bumpon inside, glued to a shelf to stop it sliding around.
They will be if it's just come out of the microwave!!
I just read in wonder at the willingness of forum contributors to solve other people's problem. It's amazing.
I must say that I really think that whatever your CDX2 is on, it will sound exactly the same. Mind you I do think that when my cat (see my avatar) goes to sleep on the top of my CDX2 which is the top of the stack, I don't enjoy the music as much until she chooses to get off, an hour or two later....
best
David
If my cat got on top of my cdx2....he would soon get through his 9 life's .....
This one's a she and she is very persistent. Anyway the alternatives are my lap, which is fine but a bit restricting, or my network laser printer......
It would be fine if said cat, improved the performance in some way.....possibly put cdx2 on top of cat...just a thought....
I think that Naim may be working on a SuperCat so I regard her as a sort of prototype. But I don't like the muddy footprints.....
And the purring can sound a bit like mains-borne interference, but on the other hand she is cheaper than my Naim-habit...
Your on a roll....lol

And maybe a fe-line for that supercat
And a purr-line
