what with all the talk regarding upgrading to DR products. Any chance of the original supernait being offered a upgrade

It doesn't look like there is enough room in the Supernait to get a DR upgrade. The SN2 has no DAC and a different layout and the DR was part of the design

Sorry, I misread your OP. You're thinking in terms of a DR service upgrade to the SN. Might be worthwhile to query Naim support. Being that the SN was introduced in 2007, servicing is just around the corner for early units.

No. There is no "DR upgrade" path for Supernait.

Surely a Hicap DR is exactly that upgrade path for the original Supernait? The only DR bit of the SN2 is the power supply for its preamp.

Steven2907 is has a Supernait(1), its pre-amp power supply is a single rail 24v supply via an LM317 (type) regulator.

But taking the question seriously, looking inside its a bit pushed for room even if Naim was interested in upgrading an old model.

The SN2 already has a DR power supply, but it's still only a single rail to the pre-amp,

The only way whatever model is HiCap - I would have thought that would habe been something Naim had already done as part of the move to DR as the HC has numbers of model applications. But they haven't so maybe other plans, or strategy, or sales don't justify it

It's design has a dual rail 24 supply so even with the old LM317's it has an advantage with SN(1) (arguable on SN2)

Anyway, I'm all right Jack, I have a DR PSU on my Supernait(1) ....

So, add a Hicap DR to your SN1 and voila: you've got yourself an SN2 and a free DAC!

I have had two SNs. I added a HC DR to the present one. Leaving judgments and personal impressions aside, I'd take this combo again and again over a number of other ones, including SN2.

I shall hopefully soon be getting a SN as a hell of a deal has come up. It will be a big step up from my nait 5i. I'm sure my speakers will thrive on the new found grunt!

Thanks joerand. I said "yes I know " because I knew there wasn't a upgrade path at the moment.. I was thinking it would be nice if there was, but I think you knew that.
