CD555 Puzzle

Posted by: Gavin L on 06 February 2016

A light hearted question for Saturday evening: Why does the CD555 allow the remote to open the top door?  If you are near enough to change the CD, surely you can press the button on the top.... and why is there a motion sensor to close it?  Could this be of any use to anyone??!

It's the BLING factor !

p.s. Unless you have a butler or a robot to put the cd disc on the turntable for you.

p.p.s. or even the missus.  sorry.

I am thinking it is not improving the audio experience one jot!

A good question about the motion sensor but remote control to open the disc door is pretty standard on DVD, Blueray and CD players (save for those with Naim's swing-tray mechanism, of course)

Haven't spotted the butler upgrade for the CD555 on Naim's price list.  Am I looking on the wrong page?

The butler is in beta. Allegedly.

Job description includes:

1) regularly plugging and unplugging cables to prevent oxidation

2) changing tracks on demand

3) ripping cds for you

4) nodding head and tapping toes in time to the music

5) knowing everything there is to know about where to buy concert tickets for your favourite musicians

Does the butler perform better when powered by two meals vs. only one?

When it comes out, I will be ordering the DR (extra Discrete) version....
