Highcaps

Has anybody used 2 highcaps to run a 282 ,and if so what difference did it make adding the second one?
I suspect you'll get opposing views on this one. I asked my dealer about this and his view was that there are much more cost effective upgrades if I really had £1300 burning a hole in my pocket. Bear in mind to that if you add a 2nd Hicap to your 282 then it'll ideally need to be a pretty close match to the existing one age wise.

When using two Hicaps on the NAC282, each one effectively powers left or right channel. So you need them to be similar to ensure a close channel match. There is one little fly in the ointment though. Because signal (and hence signal ground) only goes through one Hicap, the overall grounding scheme is slightly compromised. This is avoided by using a single Supercap...
+1 that Hicaps need to be matched. I added a second Hicap to my 282, as I found a bargain in a used one, and they were serviced at the same time. The improvement in sound was well worth my investment. Also I considered a Supercap to be way out of reach. At that time there were few alternatives to upgrade in that price range. Best that you visit a dealer to arrange audition.
Consider getting your Hicap upgraded to DR, or listen to some SuperLumina cables. Also consider DR upgrade to your 250. Let your ears decide. Also consider whether you will want a Supercap - and maybe worth saving funds for that.
Complete waste of time in my experience. Stick with one, or even better, get a Supercap.

+1 Through personal experience. On a 282 the only justification for using 2x HiCaps is to power a Stageline/Superline independent of the 282 psu. Short of a HiCap(DR or not) the only way is the SuperCap.

just out of interest really ,had the highcap upgraded to dr in july and traded my old 250 in for a 250 dr .did have a feeling that a supercap dr would be the way to go.
