My current setup is:

Naim Nait 5si Audiolab Mdac B&w 685s2 Sub Rel T5 cable wireworld oasis 7

I would like to upgrade the speakers: i come to mind

B&W CM6 s2

Kef LS50 or other

listen to much rock country rock and pop

Try Neat SX3 in situ to hear if it's to your liking. Not sure though whether they are available in white.

Dynaudio Excite X14. Scansonic MB-1 if you can spread them out wide, 7'-9', also they perform best on the stands made for them.

I believe ProAc are doing some of their speakers in silk white

Sonus Faber Venere, and Guru QM10's would also be available in white. Both better to my ears than the Kef and B&W's, but as always try to demo with your system to see which gives the sound you like..

I'd not seen those Sonus Fabers before. They certainly look very pretty, unlike those vile looking B&Ws, which are just a shiny box with a silly tweeter stuck on top. For the £1,500 they cost, it must be possible to find better alternatives. The Neats look like a good option, and they come in white.

The Ascendo C5 is a fine speaker and looks pretty good in white.

I would like to add my vote to Dynaudio Excite X14. Well made speaker, looks great in white and much the same price as the kef LS50 quoted by the OP.

I'll throw a vote in fornthe Sonus Faber Venere. I have a pair of 1.5 and beleive that the Nait 5si would drive them well. A Qute V1 is a bit underpowered in my room.

Totem Dreamcatcher. Easy to drive, nice big sound from a tiny box, unbelievably engaging. Good looking in satin white, and can be mounted on the wall if you prefer.

Alternatively Neat IOTA,  but I prefer the Dreamcatcher for sheer brio.

Regards,
Frank.

I have the Dreamcatchers but have moved on.  They are very musical but bass light and that became a problem over time.

Dynaudio excite x14 also gets my vote!

For what it's worth, I agree on both statements. Although I am not a fan of SF, the Venere look pretty, and although they are not built like tanks, or to the standards of some of their designs, they sound balanced and pleasant, and cost sensibly. Are we talking of the stand mounts here, right? That said, the best sound I've heard from a Nait5si came from one connected to a pair of Raidho C1s, €12,000... And they're available in white.

So functional, if not practical mullets do exist. Even better if the source was a CD5si.

No, it was this:

(€12,000 too...)

so the task of the Nait5si was twice as difficult...

Now I'm being serious. I have bought a pair of Q Acoustics 3020 for a studio/guest room system that never materialised; the first pair came with mute tweeter, I sent them back and the seller, a very good Italian online store, immediately sent me another pair. This time they were ok, but I have some personal reserves: they are advertised as the best possible speakers for the money, but I could not dispel the feeling of gracious toys; although they are decently built and boast a number of interesting design solutions, I never felt at ease with their built or reliability. They have a pleasant, mellow voice accurately planned to give some 3D scene and never be piercing, but I wouldn't spend €280 on them anymore, looking for a 2nd hand pair of something more sturdy, like MA or even regas.

My opinion only.
