Qb in da house

It's lovely.

HH, really hope you don't mind...! I've not been this excited in a long time, not since my last DR upgrade..sad but true!
Mine turned up today. Just in time as have a "wee" bash tomorrow night with good friends and as we know all the best parties are in the kitchen!!!! Not sure of it's final resting place..the jury is still out on that and by that i mean the wife will decide!!
Before.......

And after....
Not a tomato in sight!!!!
Gents should we post these pics with a nice single malt rather than a kettle...eh...no!!!

Of course, but that is not from the Mu-so, it is from the app!
In fairness, BT routers are completely and absolute shite. It might be better to rig up a couple of tin cans connected by a piece of damp string.

Now you need to move it out of that corner or it'll be booming like a pimped up Corsa. Nice shiny worktop by the way!

, which is right next to the Qb so completely understandable. Other than that its rock solid connect wise (30/40 feet from the the BT Router)
Sad to say, it is what I predicted earlier on another thread about Naim only supporting legacy wi-fi protocols that are forced to work only at 2.4 Ghz. Even my £49 printer does better than that (yes I know they make most of their money from the inks but even so)
noname, I appreciate what you are saying.. to some degree , I am reasonably computer literate and almost didn't buy the Qb on the basis of all this wifi mumbo jumbo on the web regarding the legacy protocols, however I need fast connection for work, my wife is a system engineer for a very large US company needing a fast link to her configuration tools etc etc, however even when the QB is streaming downstairs (to run it in) whilst we are working we still get a very fast internet connection and it doesn't effect us in any way. I appreciate there may be super users out there, but a 20 second drop out whilst I'm warming my plates I can live with, especially when the connection comes straight back after the "ping"
Respectfully I'd imagine it is just flabby booming bass tucked into that corner. If is like its big brother the bass is boxy and boomy even pulled out from a rear wall. Had to move mine on.
How the hell do I get my new Mu-so Qb to multiroom on my all-wired network with a multiroom-enabled ND5SX ? Using the Naim app on an iphone 4s, multiroom does not appear on the app Qb home screen (as claimed by the app) in spite of being enabled in inputsettings>multiroom. I bought the thing to multiroom but it seems it won't, and almost as worse I can't hide the spotify or tidal inputs I don't want. £595 fit for the bin I wonder - I hope not?
Perhaps a little less grumpy? Just press the four squares in the now playing screen and it will work.

I noticed this, not being able to "turn off" any unused inputs which from memory can be done on my NDS. Any thoughts gents?
Also, why are digital/analogue not available on multiroom?
'Booming like a pimped Corsa' ...Very good!

If in doubt, need to select the source device in the app then select the source stream, then touch the volume bar at the bottom before the four squares appear for *some* inputs.
i complained about the lack of support for digital and analogue inputs to Naim with my original Mu-so. Was told simply that these inputs were not taken through the Multiroom module. Hence my earlier remark that those using mu-so as a sound bar would not be able to listen to the audio on their Qb in the kitchen. A crazy limitation inherited from the earliest days of Naim Multiroom but not suited to the new areas of use opened up by the Mu-sos.
fully agree that not being able to hide unwanted inputs is an annoying limitation of the app but remember that the input position indicators on the Mu-so control are fixed. How would they reconcile that with hiding inputs?
i suggest that everyone who has not already done so goes to the Naim support site and download the full manual which now covers both Mu-so systems.
(Noname but plenty of Naim systems for over 30 years)
Aaaah - multiroom has to be selected using the ND5SX IR handset not the app. So multiroom does work - except the Qb app volume control disappears !!! The Naim app really is disgracefully juvenile. In the absence of guidance instructions it should be intuitive which it most certainly is not. I sincerely hope that Naim software authors never work in the aviation industry where lives depend on intuitive user interfaces.
NONAME :- "If in doubt, need to select the source device in the app then select the source stream, then touch the volume bar at the bottom before the four squares appear for *some* inputs." - isn't much use when there isn't a volume bar showing
NONAME - Reconciling hardware and software is simple - hardware takes precedence

This all seems a bit melodramatic. Can't say the app is hard to use. My wife can use it without complaint and that really does mean it must be pretty intuitive.

But the Qb is not the source device is it!
i would be the last one to defend the design of the app but at least I can follow the instructions.
Hungryhalibut posted:Don't worry, I moved it very quickly after realising it was boomy in the corner. And just for Joe, I've included some rather tasty Sicilian vine ripened cherry tomatoes.
Nigel,
Don't be so quick to undersell your tiles as 'skanky'. Here the cherries add a perfect compositional color compliment to the juicy tomatoes - well done! On the previous shot, the olive tile offered a perfect culinary pairing with the tomatoes. I think you've got some innate photographic prowess. And the car keys tie both shots together very nicely - relaxing at home with Qb after a long, hard day. If you can figure out how to get the Qb lighting to glow red you'll have a truly special shot.

Gents,
Just to confirm. I have MacMini connected to my NDS, which plays fine. If I select that input music plays fine from MacMini through the NDS and on the app, there is no multiroom available as per the manual. Therefore I cannot sync Muso and QB to NDS with this input selected. I am curious why this is? Also, within the app on the NDS inputs can be "turned off" so that they no longer appear on "home screen2"
Just to clarify this is Mac connected via cable to Toslink to NDS playing Audirvana. Hence Multiroom not available, which I am still curious about?

I was more than curious, in fact I would say furious. This seems to be a deliberate hardware design limitation shared by all Naim streaming devices.
Am I being too cynical in guessing that this is because Naim has been concentrating on music audio only and assuming use of UPnP preferably from one of their own streamers?
As a Mac Mini user, you might want to explore the use of Airfoil from Rogue Amoeba which now supports sending any audio to any set of AirPlay or Bluetooth devices in sync.
for everyday listening I have resorted to using an iPad mini connected directly to the USB input of a Mu-so. This does support Multiroom. I use BBC iPlayer for live and listen again and Apple Music to listen to MY Music, as well as the usual Spotify etc. Much easier than using the Naim app for finding BBC programs. Naim have warned me that all this is technically unsupported by Apple, that not all iPad apps will allow it, and it might go away in future IOS updates. But since you need something like an IOS device anyway to control Naim devices, much easier to use the Apple apps.
I know this solution will not suit everyone but it is well worth knowing that it is an option, at least for now.
(Noname to try and avoid the sexist comments I often see on these forums!)
My Qb has arrived and is making great music in the kitchen....

Just an update after my distressed earlier posting – top of the range Netgear wifi range extender purchased and installed, and all is just wonderful now, Tidal streaming without a hitch. I have only the Qb on the extended 2.4GB network.
I collected my Qb on Thursday and have spent 10 hours or so listening to it since then. It sounds fabulous and goes very loud, I gave it a thorough workout via Deep Vibes radio.
I've found the perfect spot in the kitchen for it, just underneath the TV.

Really? Hmm interesting as BT in association with other leading global IT companies/organisations developed (and very much still do so) some of the protocols and architectures used in routers the world over for others to follow... and for consumer I think the very latest 'Homehub' devices have a rather impressive specification and chipset for the price.... (But yes I concede the early Homehub devices were rather poorly specified, but chipsets have significantly improved since then.)
Very nice shot Pixies and Northern!!
