Naim Muso Qb drops from my Naim app
Posted by: latecomer on 03 March 2016
Hi all,
I've had my Qb for 2 days now, and I am very happy with the musicality of the unit. But on day one it was difficult getting the Qb to be detected on my naim app, I did something and it worked, was able to get upnp, spotify, etc.
Day 2: it has dropped from my naim app and I just can't get it to be detected again. I've reset it many times, and still no luck. Closest I got was iRadio worked for a few secs, before id dropped. Looking at my router page I see the Qb's MACID has an assigned IP, but I can't detect it even if i manually point to the IP in my naim app.
I'm at my wits end, can anyone from Naim help please?

Most likely you need to re-set your router, then access point.
Also make sure it's running with DHCP rather than fixed IP address assignment.
Hi,
If you contact mu-sosupport@naimaudio.com or call us on 01722 426600 and select option 1 then someone will be able to help you.

Had close to the same issue. Qb at first setup wired, then using the qb's own wireless network to connect to my router. This worked for an hour and then I got the no rooms found on the Naim app. Connected to the wireless network again this morning and it worked, and hopefully it will stay that way!

Same thing happened yesterday evening, less than 2 hours after the last setup of the qb. No rooms found, but the radio stream that was interrupted for about 2 minutes started playing again, but no way to control it from the app, since it could not find the qb. This afternoon I forgot my iphone and it powered down. After recharged it the qb suddently could be found again, so no need to restart/reset the router. Playing of internet radio and 16/44 upnp tracks work fine.

I think there may have been some brief vTuner bonkersness happening yesterday evening: I lost radio a couple of times, and then it came back perfectly fine.
It dropped off twice today around midday (UK time) - lost all iRadio
I had problems on the NDX last night with intermittent loss of connection, no app or remote control. I left it running on mute and it sorted itself around 7:00pm.
Everything else on the network was working fine.

.......... should have added its been 100% OK playing RP all afternoon
Unfortunately my problems have continued today. 2 more "no rooms found" situations. After the first I found I could access the qb internal webpage when I found the ip address the router has assigned to it. So even if the app cannot find the qb it is on the wireless network.
First the signal was reported to poor. Then I moved the router closer to the qb, and this resulted in the signal being reported as Marginal. I suppose marginal is worse than poor? and it would be nice to know how many different qualities network strength can have in the web interface.
Moved the router back to the original position, unfortunately this did not recover the marginal wifi strength back to poor.
So currently no connection to the app, however airplay works as a temporary work around.
With my iphone 6S connected to the 2.4 wifi network and hiding the phone behind the mu-so the iphone still reports 2 out of 3 bars for network strength, this should be better than marginal?

I have been speaking to my router company TP-Link and they're testing to see if my model of router supports Bonjour. In the meantime I have also dropped a note to Naim support as Phil suggested to see if they have any recommendations. I suspect it's a router thing, sadly I'm not network trained.
Some people here in Singapore recommend Asus routers, does Naim recommend any particular router brand & model?
I would recommend a Fritz!Box 7490 - recently upgraded to this modem/router as part of a fiberoptic install. It is absolutely rock solid on internet/home network and wifi with good signal strength through a 2 storey home unit.
Any of the Apple witeless routers would be perfec. Stable and do what you need.
