Can I bi-amp to run 2 pairs of speakers ?

Hi All,

I'm in the process of designing a large kitchen / dining room extension and am looking at options for a sound system. I've been looking at Sonos, Muso etc, however I'm really looking for something more Hi-Fi.

Ideal world I run 2 pairs of PMC DB1i or similar as these can be wall mounted. I'd run 1 pair at one end, the other mid way up the room.

I'm thinking of nDac with 2 x NAP100's if this works. Cable would be Chord custom installation cable in relatively long lengths.

I know this set up won't be entirely Hi-Fi, but something that could work.

Any thoughts or suggestions? The room will be about 14m long by 5m wide.

Thanks

I assume you mean the DAC-V1 rather than n-DAC (because the latter does not have a way of controlling the volume so far as I know)?  You can choose to use both outputs and drive a NAP-100 from each, although Naim prefer you to use just one output and switch the other one off. I do wonder how it's going to work having two pairs of speakers and you will have to pay attention to siting so the phasing works I suppose, because the distance of the listener to each speaker pair will change as you move around.

I think if it were me I would probably have one pair of speakers, but not knowing your room size/shape, it's hard to say any more.

You could also think about how the Unitiqute 2 might fit into a system as this is a mighty fine little beast and has everything but the speakers in one box, including FM, DAB, iRadio and streaming for not a lot of money.

Good luck with the planning.

Thanks David - Yes, I do mean the DAC V1. It's a really long room and would like to fill it with sound. I know one pair of speakers makes sense. Perhaps I should just look at placing 1 pair in a premium position.

The system won't be for serious listening and we will be moving around.

Why don't you simply run Ethenet cable around the house?

this way you can plug multiple streamers, even small ones like UnitiQute or Muso,

2 channels and 4 speakers in one room is just asking for problems with constructive & destructive interference, never mind controlling how they interact differently with the room resonances!

It could work; it could also be a chaotic mess.  Unfortunately the latter is far more likely!
