Amy Winehouse????????????????

God,
I feel so sorry for her.
Most of you on here must of seen your tv news stations or the film on the tube by now of the first gig of her tour.
Does she not have people around her that care about her?
She must have some one that would of said NO YOU ARE NOT GOING ON STAGE IN THAT CONDITION?
I am at a loss to know why that gig ever went ahead.
She is such a great talent.
Why are people letting her do this?
She looked here.
I can't remember which comedian said this .....
"I don't want to see people doing Amy Winehouse songs on Karoke, if I want to see a hopeless drunk ruining Amy Winehouse songs, I'll go to an Amy Winehouse gig."
Probably Jack Dee I suspect.
I do agree with your sentiments though Stu.
She ought to team up with Pete Doherty, at least it would save on police and ambulance time.
I always find it amazing that adictions leave the addicted completely unaware of their state. It is a shame that there never seems to be anyone around them to help them out of it , as apposed to helping them into it.
Personally I don't find Amy (or Pete) much of a talent.
Useful response BigH. Firstly, she has huge amounts of talent, whether you like her, and secondly, she will be fully aware of her state, but because of her addiction, she can't really do a lot about it yet. It would be like saying to you, don't listen to any more music for the rest of your life.
She is weak, so what? Leave her alone.
Reminds me of another singer I saw on Bio DVD , Anita O'Day. Got her start with Gene Kruppa, then bounced around and ended up with small bands and doing quite well on heroin. She eventually kicked the habit but many of her peers didn't. Think of it, singing is probably the only thing she knows to do, the excitement is being on stage. Why be a check out person at a store?
It was sad to see Garland go down too but a good lesson to all.
What about all the other addicts - any sympathy for them?
What about personal responsibility? What about restraint and moderation in consumption?
Is she that special that she deserves anything other, depending on your point of view of addiction, than condemnation or concern?
> Personally I don't find Amy (or Pete) much of a talent.
+1
It is still sad though, all addictions are sad.
Now should I add a second 555PS to my system and an extra Power-Line Please don't say: No, No, No |
Anyways some very talented people have left us because of taking something they should never have got near; Sandy, Janis, Jimi
yeah I know, people thinking they can do the wild life are in for a wild stupid ride. Here in LA drugs are so common, every Rave has people going to ER or a death or 3. I'm certainly not in that scene and stay away from those that do.
It is all down to personal responsibility, but we should never say we all have to behave the same way because a major portion of worlds arts and culture has been made on irresponsible behavior that gives us some kind of thrill.
Personal responsiblity, sure.
But collective responsibility, too.
Sadly, callous judgmentalism is neither.
Alcoholism is an illness. This woman should be receiving urgent medical care not expected to perform in front of thousands of people.
I did hear the gig was in Serbia, and that tickets for the show cost around 1/5th of the average monthly wage. I bet a lot of those (former) fans don't feel a lot of sympathy for her, even if we can more easily afford to.
