SL Cables or NAP 250DR

Posted by: Kevin Richardson on 09 March 2016

Given the context of my current system

--> NDX [PowerLine] [StillPoints]-> DC1-> Berkeley Alpha DAC [PowerLine] [Still Points] -> ArSound Lunar -> SN2 [PowerLine] [Still Ponits]

--> HicapDr [PowerLine] [Still Points] --> NACA5 --> S400 + REL G2

Which upgrade is likely to produce the greater positive impact on a per $ basis?

1.  SL speaker cables 3m 3,500$

2. NAP250DR + additional stand level 7,500$

(I am completely unable to audition any Naim products prior to purchasing)

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks.

I think I need a hobby.

A lot of truth in that. After 30 years of spending much of my disposable income on audio gear, I'm now - in retirement - finding that that same money goes a lot further when spent on woodworking equipment. For the cost of a 272/250 combo, I can equip a shop to a very high standard. The upgrade bug is still there, but costs a whole lot less to feed than in audio.

For instance, the Dewalt DWS 780 double bevel compound miter saw will set you back about $800... peanuts in audioland.

Does it cut better with a PowerLine upgrade? Can you notice a much better engine note with an external PowerSupply?

I did recently buy a Dremel 4000.  So many possibilities.
