No Phono button on 552

Having just made the move to 552 from 52, and with my record deck still being the sonically superior source, I am frustrated that I have to use 'Aux1' as the button to select the record deck. There are buttons for CD, Tuner, HDD, AV but languishing at the end are Aux1 and Aux2.

It was possible to buy labels for the 52 switches to re-label them. The buttons on the 552 appear to have the labels integral with the button.

Has anyone with a proper source component and a 552 reconciled this serious design shortfall?

Shocking really that the premier source doesn't have its own button, in this day and age you would think there would be a streamer option

Perhaps you could cut out a tiny circular picture of a turntable and stick it on the offending button.

Nick - I think the real question is which button does the vinyl sound the best through, allowing for the ability to map the buttons

It may not be Aux.....answers on a postcard to.!

Interesting. Mine has a Tape button where as yours has HDD. I guess time moves on. Sort of answers your question.

I also have a record deck. Sometimes forget it's on AUX1 . Old age creeping in I guess.

At least it still has a mono button.

On my 552, the Urika is plugged into the Tuner input. Sounded better than the others to me when I went through them to check. It's the only source component connected. I've never changed the mapping of the buttons from the factory settings.

Quite.  And while we're about it, none of this "phono" nonsense either.  The input label should say GRAM.

Brrrr...

If 'phono' was good enough on all of my Naim pre-amps from 62 to 72 to 82 to 52, then it really ought to be good enough for 552. Save the 'gram' for your (1950s) radiogram unit!

I have a Linn Exotik preamp and that doesn't have a phono button either! Of all the manufacturers they should include one as norm surely! It has CD ( linn no longer make cdp's) Aux ( I use that for my LP12) Tuner and DVD? What the hell it that there for?  There is no provision for streaming so you would have to use one of the other buttons for that but what if you want to use all the sources they provide for and then some?  The screen does though allow you to say what you are listening to so that at least something.

I use Aux 2 mapped to the furthest din socket to the right as my turntable is to the right of the 552.

Is that a wind-up?
