40 years ago today we lost Paul Kossoff

40 years ago today on a flight from New York to Los Angeles at the tender age of 25 Paul Kossoff passed away. His playing even during the loudest of passages always had a feel that no other player could really achieve.  http://youtu.be/eI1FT0a_bos

I've just noticed while brushing up on my Free "history" that their bass guitarist from '68 -'71 Andy Fraser died just over a year ago on the 15th March 2015 aged only 62. The strong and solid bass lines he laid down were the foundation of the band IMO.

Thanks for pointing that out, a good excuse to listen to some of his work

One of my favourite bands from my formative years - I saw them just before they achieved their due acclaim after "Alright Now. Their second (eponymous) album was always my favourite.  Played it a month or so back shortly after installing the 135's that replaced my long serving 250 - still great and I couldn't believe how much more the 135's were revealing compared to the 250.  They were all brilliant and it was a tragedy that Kossoff went so young.

I always thought Taste had a similar freshness in their early days.

BLUESOG - agree with you entirely about the 2nd album.  It really swung and was so melodic.
