Is my 32 a 32.5?

I have a 32 preamp. Everyone keeps asking if it has the 32.5 upgrade. I am not sure. It  does have  the 5 PIN connector on the back allowing it to be powered by a HiCap. Does this mean it is equal to a 32.5? If not what do I need to do to bring it to 32.5 status? Thanks.

Does the sticker on the back say 32 or 32.5 ?

The 5PIN  allowing a HC to power was the " .5 "  designation. However, many of these early 32 units were upgraded by dealers and not by Naim directly. Hence my question about the sticker.

If yours has the 5 PIN, then it is a 32.5. Whether it left the factory that way is another question. The answer of which doesn't really matter unless you are reselling and have a buyer who demands a true 32.5. Otherwise they are identical as far as I know.

Hope this helps?

If it has the 5pin socket it's a 32.5. My 42 was upgraded at the dealer's and the .5 was added with a felt tip pen. Life was simpler then.

If it was upgraded by either Naim, or one of Naim's approved service centres, or by a Naim dealer using the factory upgrade kit, then it's basically a NAC32.5. There was usually a little round sticker supplied with the ".5" printed on it, but these sometimes fell off or just weren't applied.

However, if the 5pin DIN was added any other way then it's anyone's guess what it is now - unlikely to be either a NAC32 or a NAC32.5.

So are both rails of my Hicap being utilized? Or is more work needed besides the 5Pin conversion?

No idea Mike.  It would need to be inspected by either a dealer or Naim service person who knows exactly what to look for.
