nait 2 - logo light defect

Posted by: Tobias Fricker on 21 March 2016

hello,

I have a very nice Nait2 CB

since today the logo light turns from green light to no light.

I mean about 5min no light - and 1 min the logo light is working

... anybody knows this problem???

It sounds like the Led modules behind the logo / text are failing. It's fairly common.

Ps. They are also wired accordingly to illuminate the text partly and the logo fully hence the wiring.

it`s a bit strange because sometimes it`s working - and sometimes not.

...

I would expect if the led is defect, there will be no light anymore.

I would not expect an LED to go on/off,  its all or nothing IME.   The LED is in series with a resistor to set its brightness.  An on/off LED indicates an intermittent break in its circuit, maybe a bad solder joint or a cracked resistor.   It should be easy to find & fix,  have you contacted a Naim service dealer ?,

I had the same problem with a CB Nait 2 that I had a while back (now back in the fold...). Sent it off to Darran at Class A and it was replaced at the same time that he serviced it. I believe the LED unit was £30 but this was sometime ago. Give Darran a call. It may well be worth servicing it at the same time and then you will be good for 10+ years.

Welcome to the sweet sound of Nait 2 ownership. Enjoy.
