Upgrade direction

evening enlightened ones.

I have enjoyed the Dac V1 Nap 100 combo hugely. I added the highline with great results and Roon via a headless Mac mini has been a joy, the music poring out of the sublime eclipse TD510z is fantastic.  However upgradeitis has set in and I'm thinking of swapping for a Superuniti which would have the added benefit of bringing the turntable out of retirement from the loft and only one box too but, I would loose Roon.

I am looking at new with a trade in of my old kit. Is there anything else I should consider, possibly keeping the V1 for Dac duties?

thanks in advance

You could always go Mac mini optically into SuperUniti to keep Roon.

You will need a phono stage to have vinyl again though.

my advice (as a Superuniti owner) would be to get a Naim amp like a Nait XS or SuperNait keeping your DAC V 1 and the flexibility it offers.

There is a lot of (potential) redundancy when you have amplifier and DAC in the one box.

Instead of the Superuniti, what about a 272 and keep the 100? Costs about the same as a Superuniti but has major upgrade potential.

Presumably you are using you computer USB into the DAC V1.  If you trade the V1 for something that lacks USB input, you could get a USB to SPDIF converter and use a coax cable (or optical), yes?

I would also suggest you go for the 272 and take benefit of the bigger upgrade potential.

Thanks for the suggestions, I am now leaning towards the supernait 2 and keeping the V1. I may even purchase the Hicap while I'm at it as it will look nice sat next to the V1 ;-)

How does the V1 connect to the supernait? Can I re use my Hiline?

Thanks

Hi Lee. SN2 is great. However as good a source as the DAC-V1 is, I think your money may be better spent improving this rather than adding a Hi-cap to the SN2.

+1, depending on ultimate system aims the SN2 or a pre power (at least 202) would be what I would consider.

IME, the Mac mini, V1 into 282/200 with revealing speakers, really shows the V1s potential.

Not sure whether the Hi-line would need a different pin configuration to connect to a Nait or NAC?  Or whether it's possible for Naim to change an existing Hi-line? https://www.naimaudio.com/site...cation%20Rev%20J.pdf
