SuperUniti

Posted by: Zinpaw on 24 March 2016

My first post to the forum, and hello to all my fellow Brits out there! I'm a Brit living in Detroit.

My current system is a UnitiQute (with 24/192 upgrade) - Linn Klout - B&W CM10. (all British!)

I've come across a SuperUniti at what seems a good price second hand and am considering buying this to replace the Qute and the Klout.

Do you think this would be a smart move and a worthwhile step up in sound quality?

I have demoed UQ2 against UL, NU2 and SU and SU wins hands down, especially with more refined speakers. It is also the only one from the lot who has the muscles to tame serious floorstanders. Not to mention the high end DAC.

Now looking to improve my system with a speaker cable upgrade (chord odyssey, chord epic or QED XT400)

I can recommend Tellurium Q Black

Simply fabulous

I've run my SU into PMC 23's using Chord Epic Twin, currently testing bi-amping with Chord Epic Super Twin. Both configurations sound..... well, epic!

DR_J I would recommend giving Tellurium Q Black a go. I did use Epic Twin myself which was good but the TQ Black was very much a step up in my set up

I used TQB when I had an SU and 23s and would agree that it's a great match.

Hi Zinpaw

I use a superuniti myself at home, and it is brilliant. I must admit cm10's are a difficult speaker to drive, but I did actually demo these speakers when I was buying my system, and it didn't have any problems driving them. I suppose it lacked a bit in the mid range, but it still sounded very good.

It will be a huge step up from your UQ. Even with a power amp on the UQ , the superuniti's DAC and pre amp are far superier, and the pre amp is the key to having a nice presentation.

I would say go for it, it is a suitable amp for your speakers.

Thanks Ryan, I've been enjoying my SU for two weeks now. Very happy with my purchase and the CM10s seem to get along very well with it.

Demoed tellerium q black vs chord epic in a superuniti with new b&w 804d3. Tq black was so far ahead that it wasn't even close. Amazing PRaT
