MC Phono stage recommendations
Posted by: taffyboy4u on 27 March 2016
Hi all,
I have an LP12/Ittok/DV20L feeding a newly acquired Nac122x preamp, I need a MC phono stage and wondered what options are best for me with a budget of £200.
secondhand stageline S?
Graham Slee?
Rega Fono MC?
thanks

If you have a Dynavector MC cartridge, then it is extremely difficult to better a used Dynavector P75 phono stage for circa £250-300 in the UK.
If you have circa £600, then it is almost as hard to beat a new P75!
Hope this helps, FT
FT is right Dynavctors will be a good match - if not Stageline S I ran for a period with my Dyn XX and it was excellent - or also a Tri-chord Dino represents really good value.

I have a graham slee and love it with ortofon 2m blue. but suprisingly everything went great when I got an acrylic platter. Its weird but that was the best upgrade I ever did.
Thanks for feedback so far, really appreciate it.
Has anyone heard (in a naim set up) either an NVA1 or Rega moving coil phono stage? Is it as musical?
thanks

i would add a small twist to what's been said already: i suggest getting a used Stageline and a used P75, doing a "Clash of the Titans" type deal, and selling on the 2nd place finisher.
(i have both!)
Or possible a used Naim Prefix, although I suspect they are above your quoted price, and you would have to pay to have it installed in your LP12. That's assuming that your preamp can supply the power the Prefix needs.
Have you thought off the nva phono one
and if you dont get on with it you send it back and get your money back
I've a DV p75 MkIII which I like with my DV20x2L. Would you find a p75 MkII for £200?
Chris
£200 ! I doubt it
..... shame
Have a look at the one that went on 7th Jan, on a popular auction site.
