NAC-N 372 on its way...

Posted by: hungryhalibut on 01 April 2016

I hear from a reliable source that the 372 will be released in a 'few months' time. It will provide sound quality 'within a hair's breadth' of an NDS and 252 when powered by a 555PS, but can also be powered by an XPS or XP5XS. At a price around £6,000 this will be the product many have been waiting for. Whether it means that the 202, 282 and 252 can be retired is another matter altogether. I suppose it means that an evening job at the pub will be required, but never mind.

Are you sure? This may be commercially sensitive information. Be that as it may, I wonder if it will be able to run without an external power supply like the the 272.

Conceptually, this product road map sounds perfectly logical. If I may add, I am guessing a new range of preamp will be out by the end of this year too.

I doubt it will have its own internal power supply as the real estate of the streamer will have to be occupied by a combination of what you see in the NDS and a 282.

Has anyone checked the date!

On an older April 1st Nigel announced the imminent release of new speaker cables, so-and-so made, which would replace the NAC A5. At the time, the idea of another speaker cable from Naim was sci-fi, so nobody took it seriously and it was unveiled as an April Fool.

Then came the SuperLumina: are we sure that Nigel's April Fools are not announcing the truth and making it seem a joke..?

More details are to be released at "The Naim Show" along with bacon Buttys.

I'm sure such a product is in development - it's entirely logical and thereby an obvious move - as no doubt a Statement level source component is somewhere on the horizon.  However, as long as the NDS/NDX/HDX/CDX2/NDAC live on I see little reason for changing the pre-amp range particularly as the PSUs have already had the DR treatment particularly as there seems to be a very widely held view that the 552/252/282/202 are pretty much as good as it gets.

It's seems to be quite the day for "product announcements" - I see mini are launching a Hipster model with instagram filter windows and a double cassette deck!!!

Looks like a 373 and new mini will be gracing the Harty household soon

Seems likely there will be some new Naim products sooner rather than later. My guess would be an all singing all dancing replacement for the Hdx.

I don't know what's going on today - seems to be one new product announcement after another - http://www.whathifi.com/news/h...-and-unchewable-tape

The new "wind up" feature sounds particularly useful.

Given my love of all things "hi res", I'll definitely be buying some of these - they'll sound awesome in the new mini when it arrives!!!

And from the ad in the newspapers this morning, we can see that BMW is looking after its future customers by announcing xDRIVE baby boots claiming "total stability in all conditions".

Of course, I'll be printing these words out and eating them - when HH's post turns out to be true!!

I love the prospect of a 372 , it would be a very welcome addition here .

Not sure if it's been posted elsewhere ?? German supermarket Lidl has a new streaming service called Tidl !! £1.49 a month , it should shake things up a bit .

Here's another one for the April fools possibilities...Just asked my dealer how much the SNAXO prices have gone up on the new pricelist (fresh in the door today)... UNCHANGED!!!!

Of course that reliable source would have to be Totoro (maybe via the cat bus?) or perhaps a rumour on the ocean gyre?

I think there was a Nac 372 thread last summer.

A NAP-N 572 would be desirable...

Posted on: 01 April 2016 by David Hendon

New Naim price list of May 2016 is on Signals website alongside the Jun 2015 one now. So looks like we have a month to buy all that desired Naim kit at 2015 prices.

best

David

Typical yes ... especially as I can't afford the NAC-N 272 currently ... let alone a 572 and a NAP500 and speakers to do it all justice :-)

Why jump right from a 372 to a 572? 400-level gear seems a glaringly untapped niche in Naim's lineup. Might be time for a new rung in the ladder. If Statement had a number I wonder what it would be? 600's or does it command something with four digits?
