I had this morning again the experience of the effect of switching of my black boxes due to some work on the electricity in the house. I had the feeling as I have had before that I have a renewed clarity and pureness in the tone of my kit. So I start to believe that while keeping it on all time is a good idea, that we also should have a shut down every now and then.
I would appreciate to hear about other experiences of others on this. So do you switch it off every now and then, in what frequency and what are your experience.
And perhaps somebody can even share a theory behind my felt improvement of the system.

Last time I recently turned every thing off and dismantled down to clean shelves and the floor under and around the hifi area, when putting every thing back together after a good hour or so. When I plugged in the mains cable into my amp, before going anywhere near the mains outlets I got an electrical " bite" from the plug pins. The amplifier was still charging off its capacitors enough to give out some current - gave me a shock - next time I'll give it longer time or be more careful when plugging in.
When turning off I would presume that the larger the energy storage of something the longer it would need to be really off.

Yes, something I have noticed after coming back from holiday, which used to be the only time I switched it all off. I know shut down every couple of months or so and leave of for a day or so. Of course it could all be in my mind but even if so I perceive an improvement and that's good enough for me.
