I'm not sure what your turntable/arm/cartridge combination is but regardless I'd probably add the Pro-Ject Phonobox SE, Rega Fono and Creek OBH8 to your audition options - these can usually be picked up for a song secondhand. I recently had to press a Project Phonobox SE into action with a low output MC and considering these go for about £30-50 s/h, it was really much better than expected.

For my first entry into vinyl, I picked up a Schiit Audio Mani as it got some great reviews for the price. It was an enjoyable listen but felt it was lacking in some area's (not too surprising considering the cost). I basically wanted to make sure I would stick to vinyl before spending too much on a phono stage. My eventual goal will probably be a Simaudio 310LP but before I went that deep I picked up one of their 110LP's, to get an idea of their house sound on their phono stages (might be in your budget second hand?) & have been very happy. It was a nice jump up, basically all around & I'm currently not really worrying about needing to upgrade.

Doesn't the SuperNait 2 have an auxilliary power outlet? If so, a Stageline is not bad with nice build, sound, and support. I mention this because I just finished reading Michael Fremer's (Stereophile) review of the Naim 552 published back in 2003. I was surprised to see him mention connecting a Stageline to the 552 for MC and liking the sound. Not bad.
