Wireless headphones

Hi all,

I know wireless headphones are much maligned, but I wanted to try and see how good they are at the moment.  Got myself a pair of Sennheiser RS185, but not having much success connecting the base unit.  It has two RCA's in, so I have a spare 5-pin DIN to RCA which I connected.  However, I cannot get anything other than a tiny signal through the headphones.  Do I need the cable to be configured a certain way for the line out through the DIN?  I'm using one of the line out sockets, 3, 4 or 5 on my preamp.  Thanks in advance,

Armbored, did you find a solution? I an thinking about the Sennheiser wireless headphones and would be interested to hear your opinion (if indeed you fixed the problem). I have a Superuniti so have a 'phone socket already.

Hi, the DIN to RCA does the RCA have two or four connectors?? if its just two wired in the normal configuration this could be the problem.

Wrong pins connected on the DIN - they need to be the REC out rather than PLAY pins.

Yes, Richard is right, I needed a new cable, wired for REC out. I had various DIN to RCA cables but they were all wired the opposite to what I needed.  You must specify that when you order a new cable.

ET, I am pleased with the headphones, but I've never tried high quality wired headphones, so I have nothing to compare with. They reproduce low frequencies pretty well and have quite a sweet sound. The freedom is great, though one thing I will say is that they are open back headphones, so they don't block out noise. For instance, if the others are listening to the TV in the same room, you can hear it during most of your listening, which is a bit annoying. The range is good, I can go upstairs in the house and not lose the signal. By the way, the base unit connects via RCA plugs to DIN on your preamp/amp, or digital optical... not a stereo headphone jack. Hope this helps!

Many thanks for the opinion and for the head's-up on the connection; I hadn't spotted that.
