......but when the atmosphere is damp you get more static with vinyl?
It's usually the other way round.

Perhaps if you didn't slop it all over your records you'd have less surface noise. I'm not so keen on Malbec, it's generally a bit heavy.
I recommed a good bottle of Pino Noir from North Italy.
Takes away all the static...
Parra Alta from Argentina.
A bottle from a small`Katarzyna' wineyard in Bulgaria
I know a gentleman, that has an S1 Pre and an analog TT, he prefers his CD555.
But Once Again, The Analog TT, The Digital CD, and Digital Streaming Depending on Music and Mood!
Choice is a Good Thing! The Mechanical TT is hard to beat, its emulates the Instruments best, however the needle itself presents a bag full of negatives.
Each format has it's advantages and disadvantages!
Oh, .....but when the atmosphere is damp you get more static with vinyl!!
Well take the good with the bad!
And enjoy your Music and Wine!
just my two cents!

Best way to stop static is not to come your hair whilst putting on a record ![]()
And on a serious note - the best gadget dealing with electrostatic energy I've found is a contraption called Zerostat 3 Milty.
Got it as a gift from my Naim dealer (otherwise he knew I would never even contemplate using it) - absolutely brilliant! Works wonders on a CD too.

Not heard of that...but if it works I need to investigate ![]()

I read that as comb initially so it took a while to get the point ![]()
Thanks chaps for the advice. Not sure where we are with the static today - only just awoken from the Malbec induced coma.
Not sure either - Pino was good last night.
However static seems to have disappeared....
Just listened to Steely Dan's "FM" .... No static at all.

I discovered that zapping a cd improved things years ago but haven't had a gun that works for years but it did work so must get a new one. Thanks for the reminder.
